In the follow up Q&A, they mention that the convention was originally called Tumblrcon, but it was pointed out to them that they can't just use the intellectual property of a huge company like Tumblr without permission. Thus, it was changed to Dashcon. So Tumblr, the company, had nothing to do with the convention.
