Justice Dept. Official Pushes Prosecutors to Investigate George Soros’s Foundation

A senior Justice Department official has instructed more than a half dozen U.S. attorneys’ offices to draft plans to investigate a group funded by George Soros, the billionaire Democratic donor who President Trump has demanded be thrown in jail.

The official’s directive, a copy of which was viewed by The New York Times, goes as far as to list possible charges prosecutors could file, ranging from arson to material support of terrorism. The memo suggests department leaders are following orders from the president that specific people or groups be subject to criminal investigation — a major break from decades of past practice meant to insulate the Justice Department from political interference.

The move is the latest instance of the Justice Department moving against Mr. Trump’s perceived enemies.

Over the weekend, the president urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to act quickly in seeking criminal charges against his longtime nemesis, the former F.B.I. director James B. Comey, and the New York attorney general, Letitia James, who has sued Mr. Trump and his businesses for hundreds of millions of dollars. Separate investigations into them are being conducted by federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of Virginia, and grand juries may soon be asked to vote on proposed indictments in those cases.

It's almost as though trump imagines himself speaking at one of his rallies, playing to the audience for an applause line by mentioning yet another target in order to elicit a cheer. He's ginned up a lot of hatred over the years for Comey, James, Schiff, Soros, Smith, Bragg, Merchan, Pelosi, it's a very long list. Now he's in a position to act on his animus...........in unprecedented fashion for America........but not in countries lead by leaders he admires. Russia, Hungary, Turkey come to mind.

It will no doubt excite the trump devotees on the board when they should be horrified at the drip, drip, drip of autocratic style governance.

If Soros and company funded the criminal activities of Antifa, a designated domestic terror group, they should be prosecuted for it. Right?

The left made that rancid bed by weaponizing depts and spying on the opposition. Deal with it.

Soros' foundation is accused of providing $80 million in cash and material aid to domestic terrorist groups.

10 Telltale Signs Of Dangerous Authoritarianism

In case you haven't already heard, you're living in an oppressive, authoritarian dictatorship now. Don't believe it? It's easy to see once you know what to look for.
The Babylon Bee has come up with the following list of telltale signs of dangerous authoritarianism:
  1. Someone you don't like won an election because more people voted for him: This should never be allowed to happen in a democracy.
  2. People walking around smiling and enjoying their lives: Those poor, uninformed victims of oppression.
  3. A TV show that lost $40 million a year got canceled: What are late-night talk shows supposed to do now? Be funny?
  4. Literal concentration camps being built in the imaginations of journalists: Few things are more terrifying than literal imaginary things.
  5. A super-hot actress did an ad for jeans: No one wants to live in a world where they have to look at attractive people.
  6. Police trampling on the rights of hardworking carjackers and muggers: True freedom means never being arrested.
  7. Jews are openly welcomed on university campuses: How far the education system has fallen.
  8. Funding for Iraqi Sesame Street cut: Who will teach the little children their Alif, Baa, Taa's?
  9. Food stamps no longer allowed to be used for Skittles: Fascists are waging war on the rainbow in more ways than one.
  10. People you disagree with get to say stuff: How can anyone think this is fair?

Every item on the list above should send shivers up your spine. What other clear signs of totalitarianism do you see in America? Leave them in the comments.

Commentary:
Unfortunately, berg80 truly believes in what he posts on these boards.
Meanwhile even the Babylon Bee makes a mockery of berg80's ideology....

Isn't Babylon Bee a Christian satire website? You're just trolling. :dunno:

If these people committed crimes they should be held accountable. Don't you agree?
If Soros and company funded the criminal activities of Antifa, a designated domestic terror group, they should be prosecuted for it. Right?
Did the regime send out some talking points for you guys to use?

Let me explain the difference between this and Dotard's prosecutions. For example, he refused to comply with a subpoena for the return of classified docs. The DoJ under Biden/Garland didn't have to go digging to find something he could be charged with. Not as the orange piece of shit's minions have with Soros, Comey, and James. trump blatantly violated the law when he didn't return to docs. trump's perceived enemies are being investigated to find something to charge them with because he hates them. Got it?

The reflexive "If these people committed crimes they should be held accountable" talking point glosses over the fact that these people are being targeted for who they are. Not to mention how incredibly, financially burdensome it is and disruptive to their lives to be charged with crimes. It is a tremendously serious thing to do and shouldn't be done cavalierly to satisfy trump's desire for revenge.

The left made that rancid bed by weaponizing depts and spying on the opposition. Deal with it.
That's horseshit. Even if it were true it isn't an excuse for trump to do what he's doing.

In recent days, Mr. Trump has revisited his grievances against Mr. Soros, long a boogeyman for the right, in part because he has backed progressive causes. After the killing of the right-wing activist Charlie Kirk in Utah this month, the president threatened to use the levers of government to silence liberal protesters and donors to progressive groups, including Mr. Soros.

Mr. Soros began his global grant network, now known as the Open Society Foundations, decades ago to fund democratic initiatives around the world, particularly in communist and formerly communist countries. In the 1990s, the organization expanded its work to the United States. It provides grants to groups that work for human rights, democracy and equity, but Mr. Trump and some Republicans contend, without providing evidence, that it is a shadowy network promoting civil unrest, violent protests and property destruction. Liberals say the assertions are falsehoods aimed at stifling dissent.

Investigate away. If there is a clear crime, prosecute them; if there is only an offense in the MAGA brain, it should be fun seeing Bondi getting whipped.

It's common sense. Break the law, pay the price.

It just so happens that the previous administration didn't prosecute the crimes of anyone on their side. You got complacent, thinking you could get away with it forever.

Nope.

It's all about raw, naked, obvious revenge. He says it's about the flock's retribution, but it's only about his own.

He is a child.

If they find laws broken, nail 'em. But any pretending that this is not about his revenge is just a simple lie.

If I were Musk, Thiel etc. I would be somewhat concerned and not in the US after 2028.

President Vance will be just as fair and even-handed as President Trump.

You're just not used to seeing the law enforced, after getting away with your 4 year crime spree under the Biden regime.

Yes. Soros has been funding useful idiots for a long time.
