I figured since I have a Mrs. Claus' Kitchen and a Santa's Magic Room on here to now have a thread dedicated to the pets where we can discuss what we're getting our pets for Christmas and share our ideas, because let's face it,.. pets deserve to have a merry Christmas too. :)

I have a cat who has rather short legs and has trouble getting up and down from places so she turns around and goes down off backwards. I was thinking about getting her some stairs or a ramp or something, but I want to be able to find them at a fair price which is my problem. :/

You could try cat scratching loungers. They come in a lot of different forms and don't take up a lot of space. I have something like this that I use for my old fat cat. Small step at litter box and 2 for sofa. Also have a cheep set of foam steps in front of a higher sofa that work nicely.

My Cat really doesn't care for anything----except the Empty Boxes that are left after christmas.

Yeah, my cat's the same way. If it fits she sits lol I think she's part Munchkin so that's why she has such short little legs that make it difficult for her to get up and down off of things. On the other hand, at least she leaves our countertops and Christmas tree alone.

Awww a baby

Awww, a part munchkin! I have a cat with very short legs but she doesn’t quite qualify for munchkin status. She never stands on her back legs to be able to see things better, and that is so adorable when they do that! I found this one looking for pictures of the little cutie pies:

Yes! They are so funny about boxes and even anything like newspapers or paper. I’ve had both cats and dogs alike who thought that they were in heaven just lying on some type of crinkly paper lol

A previous cat preferred to sleep on the floor as long as newspaper was spread out for him, instead of on a comfy couch or a nice cat bed, he was a case! Pat Pat aka Patrick named by the rescue.

That explains why my cat is always stand up like that lol how cute but aren't Munchkins a mutation or something? She was found a stray that was never claimed so I don't know much about her breed or history except she has a notch in her ear and some missing teeth. Here's my furbaby though. Her name is Jessie. :)

Well, I didn’t know too much about them until you posted about yours, so here’s the article I found that posted that video and I think it’s pretty good information.

Declawing should be illegal everywhere,.. and the people that do that should have their fingers cut off.
When I first read about that horrendous procedure involving not just nails but bone, I could have lost my lunch. Horrible and agree it should be illegal. If an animal lover wants a pet, they shouldn’t get new leather couches to worry about. One of the main reasons pet owners do that to cats is to protect furniture, but instead of figuring out how to protect the furniture they declaw the cat. I don’t think some people realize what that surgery involves.

I didn't before I admit because I was uneducated and now I'm thinking how I could have allowed that to happen to my one cat and I am such a monster. :( (However, I don't think that I should really blame myself for not knowing.)

That’s what I was saying that I don’t think a lot of people know about the procedure. I had a good friend also who was mortified after she had her cat declawed. I think she just thought they were basically put to sleep, claws removed, no worries, no pain. She didn’t know about it until a few years afterwards. I told her the same thing that when we are not aware of the details and not informed by the specialist aka vet about the procedure, you are not guilty! Now that we know about it though, we have an “enlightened path” to follow and share with other pet lovers who might be contemplating that decision.

I've known for a while now that it hurts them,.. I haven't known until you told me that they weren't put under anesthesia first though as that part's new to me.

Oh nooooo sorry, they absolutely are put to sleep/given anesthesia. I meant that my friend didn’t know that it involved bone also, she just thought the claws alone were removed.

Oh yeah,.. I used to think that too. There needs to be classes about this at animal shelters before adoption or something.
