Our armed services, got that, ARMED SERVICES, are there to protect our nation, to go to war to protect this country from outside intervention, attack and fight on behalf of our people. Just how does going to a nation full of deadly disease to build facilities and train others fit into the description of the armed forces? It fits into the Peace Corpse. That's their gig and it's voluntary.
I am retired military.
You obviously know nothing about what our Armed Services have been doing for over a century.
The military was sent to aid New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The military was sent to Haiti to help after the earthquake. Our military has been helping to rebuild Iraq and Afghanistan. Our military was sent to assist Japan after their earthquake.
Look, folks, if you don't know jack shit about the military, I strongly suggest you keep your ignorance to yourselves instead of making fools of yourselves in public.
Clearly you have no knowledge of the subject. You are speaking solely from fear and ignorance. It's a disaster. Our Soldiers aren't trained to fight Ebola.
Yes they are.
They are experts at logistics. The best in the world.
You can pile medical supplies and doctors and nurses at the airports and docks all the live long day, and they won't do a bit of good if there is no logistical infrastructure set up. And that is exactly the problem in West Africa. They do not have the transport or medical facilities or tracking systems or any of the other myriad logistical requirements needed to beat this record outbreak down.
This is where the US military comes in. They have the needed skills and expertise to set up the command, control, and communications which will defeat Ebola.
Clearly, you're as big a dumbass as your President is. Our Soldiers don't sign up to fight Ebola. It's absurd

LMAO..and now they're back to sarah palin again..pure comedy!
Nope, Obama needed to get them out of the country before the election so they couldn't vote.Meh, it is nothing but a publicity stunt. These soldiers are doing nothing but making it look as if Obama is actually doing something.

The military personnel shouldn't be quarantined.g5000, known idiot, let's take a little logic problem.
Explain the differences in the following:
Medical and media persons working with and near Ebola patients, no or voluntary quarantine.
Military personnel working with or near Ebola patients, mandatory quarantine (in most cases outside the US).
Foreign nationals flying into the US, a health screen at the airport, no quarantine.

Why? As has been pointed out earlier in this thread, they aren't treating any Ebola infected persons and the US military has completed numerous humanitarian reliefs missions in the past. The military personnel shouldn't be in africa. The military personnel shouldn't be quarantined.g5000, known idiot, let's take a little logic problem.

I believe it was wrong to use our military this way. We have voluntary groups that could go to Africa to do the jobs the military has demanded of the soldiers.
We would like to have a quality military resource but if this is the way ur military is going to be used, we can see fewer and fewer young men signing up for the task of questionable assignments that would being disease back to their families.
It would be interesting to see if fewer college recruits sign up for ROTC during this time.
It's a disaster. Our Soldiers aren't trained to fight Ebola. You would think a Commander-In-Chief would know that. Definitely not a good time to be an American Soldier. Would you sign up?
There are about 1,100 U.S. troops in West Africa helping to stop the Ebola virus, mostly in Liberia. The Pentagon may send as many as 3,900 troops. They are building treatment facilities and laboratories and training Liberian health care workers. U.S. forces are not expected to treat patients of the deadly virus, which has killed nearly 5,000 people in Africa.

Obama exemplifies just how stupid liberals can be.

Our military doesn't exist to perform "humanitarian relief" missions.
