... not the happiest person I’ve ever seen.
The caption says, "Why I'll NEVER go back home". But if I understand it he's only been there 3 months! He knows nothing about the country, the people, or the language. He says he chooses to live there for several reasons, one of them is to be "happy". He actually says that! But look at his face ... does he look "happy"? He's like a fish on dry land. Mark my words, he'll be returning back to the US before 2 or 3 years.I wonder what he will be living on? It's all nice and cozy until the money runs out.
A friend of mine was there just several weeks ago, with his money relatively intact for the time being, but I didn't find happiness in his reports from the battlefield, so to speak. He happened to find himself amidst the typhoon or something that was raging there then. Dead rats, cats and dogs, thousands of trees and a hell of a lot of other imaginable debris littering the beaches, rain all day long and not a single swim in the ocean, which was what he went there basically after. All in all, he came back, as you said he would, not 2 years but only 2 weeks after having suffered a major dissatisfaction of a lifetime. The caption says, "Why I'll NEVER go back home". I was a soldier in Vietnam 1966-1967 so you can understand my thoughts about that. I went back again to Vietnam in 1999 just to say “I’m sorry”. The country looked the same but there was no war so it was OK. Today I see from videos that Vietnam is in the fast lane of modernisation. I know nothing about that but I can see the guy in the video is unfit for living there. Maybe he will learn but I doubt it because I see no introspect in his demeanour.A friend of mine was there just several weeks ago, with his money relatively intact for the time being, but I didn't find happiness in his reports from the battlefield, so to speak. When I was watching the Oliver Stone's Platoon, (btw, what might be your take on the movie? Me, I liked it a lot) I somehow was rooting for the Americans, can you imagine that?I was a soldier in Vietnam 1966-1967 so you can understand my thoughts about that. I also rooted for the Americans in the film but not against the Vietnamese. I rooted for the Americans against Washington.I somehow was rooting for the Americans, can you imagine that?
Yes. That is exactly right. That's maybe why Americans hate Russians so much, after seeing us in their films and stupid media as villains of cosmic proportions throughout their entire lives.

Where did those men, if you may call them that still, and especially women demonstrate that bravery, I may ask?brave men and women,

Elias was my favorite, though I can't say that I hated Barnes. Strong death defying character, instills respect no matter what.Yes, I also like it a lot.

Yes, who the hell says something so stupid? but many of the herd have bought this bullshit even though they can't afford to heat their own houses or feed themselves without using a food bank, their is no accounting for stupidity.Did he really say that?![]()
Platoon like all Hollywood films about the Vietnam war were wallowing in self pity, another one was we were Soldiers, playing the victim. When I was watching the Oliver Stone's Platoon, (btw, what might be your take on the movie? In no way am I disparaging the deeds of the really brave men and women who fought in the WW2. Just take the Arctic Convoys as an example. You did need the guts to do the job and Russia remembers that.Where did those men, if you may call them that still, and especially women demonstrate that bravery, I may ask?
I met one of them in Normandy in 2023, did you know the Tory Regime when William Hague was Prime Minister prevented those Arctic convoy vets from receiving a Medal from Russia for valour? they said it was against the rules for medals, didn't stop several British veterans receiving the Legion de Honour from France, it shows how nasty and petty this Russophrenia has been going on, the vet on the right in the photo is the arctic convoy vet i met.In no way am I disparaging the deeds of the really brave men and women who fought in the WW2.
