The Debt Ceiling

The fact remains there is no where in the federal budget more money or I should say debt is being wasted then in the socialist entitlement programs. No two ways about it
I could cut military spending by 1/4 and there'd be no lack of troops, weapons systems, logistics, or preparedness.

Quit acting like the progressives that you claim to oppose, when your faovred programs are in need of a massive overhauul.
I'm all for cutting across the board, I happened to be a libertarian. I am not a Republican, I do not trust any career politician whatsoever. But progressives have fucked this country for decades And decades with their so-called security that is socialism.

I'm pretty sure we're due for another raise in the debt ceiling in March 2017. If someone knows better, please post it.

Will Trump refuse to raise it? Will Congress refuse to raise it? Will Ted Cruz take a stand, or take a knee (or two)?

Yes March 2017, the debt ceiling is suspended until then.

IMHO The most likely scenario is the re-emergence of the "Grand Bargain" on cutting spending and tax reform (or something very similar to it) that Obama wanted to cut with Boehner in 2011 but got nixed because the extremes of the Democrat and Republican bases went ballistic.

I'd imagine it'll be the first test of Trump's "negotiating skills" since he'll still have to contend with the House Freedom Caucus, we'll see if he's as good as a negotiator as he claims he is.

Trump wants a trillion dollar infrastructure program. And massive tax cuts. And massive increases in military spending.

There is no math in the universe that can make that work without ballooning the deficits.

You're right, the deficit will go up as it always does in a slow economy when tax revenues decrease. But the spending he proposes on infrastructure is temporary and in the discretionary portion of the budget. The math problems you mentioned are not with discretionary spending which is only 40% of Federal spending, but rather non-discretionary entitlement spending which constitutes about $100 trillion of unfounded liability. Chew on that, and tell me how we pay those future bills.

Huckster will just print more money, and his bots will just degrade Obama because he didnt think of that

Where have you been since 2008? First, the president doesn't control the printing of money, that is the Fedral Reserve. Second, did you miss all the QE since 2008. In short, every word you wrote was wrong.

And then there is the cost to the economy of burden some regulations - estimated at $2T per year (Obama has added a lot to his pile of suppression). Removing such a burden will spur growth...and before the Progs weigh in: the vast majority of regulations exist to benefit the Big Corporations that have captured the regulators; they do not protect The Public.

then you should be all for cutting Trumps massive spending proposals shouldn't you ?

So I guess now that a Republican is president, we're back to the Bush Era,

where the debt doesn't matter?
He's not been sworn in yet, nor has the new congress. You seem to want to forget the Obama years already.

The debt ceiling crisis was during the Obama years. I want to know if anyone still cares about the debt ceiling.

of course we care about the national debt. If you do, why didn't you scream when Obama doubled it?

Creating American jobs works in two ways, people with jobs pay taxes and don't need welfare. so new jobs increase govt revenue and reduce govt spending. Will it happen soon enough? guess we have to wait and see.

So you think Trump can pay for a trillion dollar infrastructure program, massive increase in defense spending,
AND a huge tax cut,

in a manner that will not add to the debt?

Amuse us. Let's hear how that works.

No he can't, anymore than BO can create Obamacare and not add 10s of trillions to the national debt.

I'm for cutting all frivolous spending, 7 Unbelievable Ways the Government Wasted Your Money in 2015

And this is not even the tip of the iceberg, in fact it is not even a snowflake on the tip of the iceberg…

There are big math problems there too, chief. As in there's nothing more permanent than "temporary" taxes or spending.

There's STILL no such thing as free lunch.

"People said I want to go and buy debt and default on debt, and I mean, these people are crazy. This is the United States government," Trump told CNN's Chris Cuomo on "New Day." "First of all, you never have to default because you print the money, I hate to tell you, OK?"

Technically true (although there is a credible argument that devaluing your currency just to pay off debt is another form of default) but risking the destruction of your own currency just to avoid getting your financial house in order is an insane strategy.

It was a stupid thing for Trump to say since it implies that he doesn't understand that you cannot get something for nothing.

Another is global military hegemony.

Get the plank out of your eye first, man.
Socialist entitlement programs are the debt of this federal government everything else is minor. Dip shit LOL

The debt ceiling has never not been raised. Resistance to raising the debt ceiling has been only for show, political theater for the camera.

Headlines across every debt-fueled multi-nationally owned newspaper and media outlet will terrify us with horror stories about the consequences of failing to raise the ceiling. And of course the perennial argument that a halt in borrowing removes money from the economy.

Trump's first orders of business are to increase the military budget, spend money on infrastructure and collect less money in taxes. Business as usual.
