I had to look up that one. Mets were 40-120. It's bad enough playing .333 ball. But when you only win 25% or less of your games...sheesh.

40-120 is only .250 baseball but I hear what you're saying. That's pretty sad. So what happens now? The stadium is allegedly in the ghetto. They suck. If their attendance is low or falling, I could see that franchise moving to a newer, more vibrant city. Wrigley Field might become the latest stadium to be leveled to make way for a crime ridden housing project, ala the Polo Grounds or Ebbets Field. MAGA

CHICAGO, IL — Baseball fans around the United States were completely unaffected yesterday after Major League Baseball revealed that the Chicago White Sox will be preemptively eliminated from the playoffs for the next fifty seasons.

According to Rob Manfred, the current Commissioner of Baseball for MLB, the decision to remove the White Sox from the playoffs for the next fifty years was a no-brainer.

"This is an unprecedented decision, but I know it's the right one," Manfred said, thumbing through the stats on the White Sox's 63-game losing streak. "With a record like theirs, we can't in good conscience allow the White Sox anywhere near the playoffs for the next half-century. We can come back and reevaluate in a few decades — especially if they manage to get a win in that time — but for now, it just seems best for everyone if we acknowledge that they're not gonna be in the playoffs for the foreseeable future."

Both White Sox fans were reportedly stunned by the decision.

"What?" asked Windy O'Malley, a Chicago native and 2022 Underdog Fan of the Year Nominee. "But…but…we almost had a double a few games ago! How can they do this to us? We were scheduled to play the Royals, too!"

At publishing time, the White Sox had been eliminated from the playoffs for an additional ten years after losing to the Royals in a shut-out. O'Malley has been nominated for the Underdog Fan of the Century.

I probably could have composed that better. I mean that .333 has always been my benchmark because it generally means you are losing most three game series' you play.

But yes, the Sox generally had problems from the start because that park was built before all the really cool parks came along. It was like the bland Turner Field. I'm guessing they had different architects or maybe changed their approach, but I'd have to look that up.

That field was built in the 90's and is considered "old" by current measures. The owner is a notorious cheapskate and wants to city to build them a new stadium, which is also what the Bears want, and the White Sox don't have a chance in that bidding war.

He was given loaded lineups at OAK and STL. He was a good in-game manager mostly. But that is all.
