- The British-made Covid-19 vaccine from Oxford University and AstraZeneca have today been approved for use. This is the vaccine that will make all the difference. It can be stored in a normal fridge and doesn't need to be kept at -70 degrees like the Pfizer or Moderna versions making roll out much easier.
The Oxford vaccine is one fifth the price of the others due mainly to AstraZeneca's decision not to make any profits until the Pandemic is over.
The Oxford vaccine only requires One Full Dose followed by a Half Dose within a month, which means less will have to be produced to give over 90% protection.
Along with the Pfizer vaccine, the Oxford addition means that the most vulnerable could all be vaccinated in the UK by the end of Feb. If so this could be the real game-changer just when it is needed.
