I don't think he'll beat Collins....tons of negative ads running 24/7 in the state on the internet and you tube....I think Mainers will stick with Collins, even though they are unhappy with her.....or people will just forfeit voting for either...

I hope that is the case. But, I worry that the “other” Maine will indeed pick Platner. I have to believe that traditional Mainers will go with Collins. In the end, sadly I believe he may prevail.

The wife of the Maine Democratic Senate candidate last year told the campaign about texts she had found between Platner and other women

Days after Graham Platner announced his Maine Senate bid, his wife informed the campaign about a potential political problem she had previously discovered on the oyster farmer’s phone: sexually explicit texts with several women, according to people familiar with the matter.

Amy Gertner, who married Platner in 2024, told the campaign about messages she had found early in their marriage in the spring of 2025. In late August, as some aides were conducting opposition research on their own candidate, Gertner disclosed the texts to a campaign aide to make sure they didn’t pose a risk to her husband’s nascent campaign, those people said. The campaign had been preparing for a major rally over Labor Day weekend last year with Sen. Bernie Sanders, who was set to officially endorse Platner at the event."

The Democrats are certainly picking some real losers to run for office. This guy is just toxic.

I think it is kind of funny that his wife is upset that her confidence was broken and this was exposed to the public. If it had been a Trump ally who broke Melania's confidence, Platner's wife would have been cheering until the cows came home.

You're probably unaware but this guy is running on the democrat ticket, not the Republican ticket. If you lived in Maine would you vote for him or for Susan Collins?

He has to win by over 50% or it goes to a run off with rank choice votes cast.
Since Gov. Mills is still on the ballot, even though she recently dropped out of the race....people picking her as their first, second or third etc choice candidate, could complicate things.

The other is Independents can vote in the primaries with but having to formally change to the Party. Our independents are about 50/50 Dems vs Repub.

Since Susan will win the republican primary, these republican leaning independents could vote in the Democratic primary and not have to vote for her and still have Susan.

They could overwhelmingly vote for Platner, to make certain he is the candidate Susan runs against.....or to put Janet Mills in to second place and in a runoff with Platner causing confusion and chaos because she had dropped out.....can she reinstate herself if that happens?
