The average temperature in the U.S. right now is 19.2°F (-7.1°C). It’s thanks to coal, natural gas and nuclear that you’re not freezing to death

LOL....It's a balmy 5 degrees here.

I gotta say, I'm really impressed with those Anderson windows and doors I got this past Summer. They do a fine job.

Yeah but, Ol' George would have killed for a set of EL34s or even WE300Bs.
His buddy Ben Franklin would certainly have been intrigued.

You know, the kite guy?

That's a super-interesting story. Do you know why Ben flew the kite?

George Washington (rolling around in his grave) and Native Americans agree (having somehow thrived here for thousands of years with no nukes, fossil fuels, nor even vacuum tubes).

They burned wood, or turned wood into charcoal to burn that in fires.

Holy ****.

No wonder why Trump loves his cult.
The absolute dumbest motherfuckers on earth.

Perhaps we could send Newsom over to Australia or Chile to help out.

You mean like everyone there was, before you had coal, natural gas and nuclear?

Or even hydro?

They burned wood, or turned wood into charcoal and burned that. Some places burned peat.

Ergo, all 7+ billion people on earth should burn wood, or charcoal, or peat when they need heat.

The left, dangerous and dumb, a very deadly combination.

You betcha. Ben was actually a very smart dude, actually a polyhistor of his day!

That's a super-interesting story. Do you know why Ben flew the kite?
I believe he was trying to deduce the actual nature of lightning to prove whether or not it was related to or electrical in nature. As I recall, he connected the kite to a capacitive jar and the point of the kite was to raise the collection point close enough to a storm cloud to do so while minimizing danger to himself.

The kite was never actually struck by lightning but Franklin was able to collect enough static charge from the cloud to demonstrate on the ground that the storm did indeed carry an electrical charge thus making lightning electrical in nature.

Freeking lucky they didn't get themselves killed. Ben was born probably a century before his time, he would have really enjoyed living in the late 19th century.

Google "Ben Franklin bioelectricity". :p

Luigi Galvani published his paper the same year Franklin died.

Like I said, Ben was a real hep dude who was very interested in and conducted many experiments greatly advancing much of our preliminary, basic understanding of electricity.

Kind of sad really that most of that has been lost on history because of his involvement with the founding of our country and all most people remember of him was his kite experiment.

Okay.
I don't care who you are ... that's funny.

I'm still just trying to figure out what sex lube you can buy that still flows and works at -26° never mind why freezing to death at nearly 60°F below freezing would make anyone horny.

Ewwwww.
I didn't need that visual. :laughing0301:
