Obamacare IS a Republican plan, created by them during the Clinton administration and modified from there.

The question is why did the GOP voted against this plan. But, we now know that the GOP picked health care as a purely political fight wherein they wanted to prove that they could still run the government, even though they had so severely lost the election.

Why? Well then, I guess you forgot about Romneycare, didn't you? On top of passing a Republican plan, Obama butchered it. He is so far left, that he had to take in some Republican ideals just appear as a moderate; which in and of itself failed miserably.

Or we just don't think the usual bromides are solutions to the problem.

What he proposes is making health insurance portable- which isn't a solution, because most employer plans are subsidized by the employer. No new employer is going to underwrite another employers plan, and they aren't going to pay the new employee the difference so he can pay the difference himself.

There's also the old dog that if we just stop those patients who've been mangled by incompetent doctors from suing for the injuries they've endured, that will make medical care soooo much cheaper. "Ooops, we cut off the wrong leg!"

Tax deductions being extended to the individual market isn't that bad of an idea, but it isn't going to really make that much of a difference. As long as insurers can discrimate on the basis of pre-existing conditions, insurance will still be out of the price range of most people.

Giving Doctors the ability to override insurance and government programs on what can be paid for will just encourage doctors to order every test and every treatment they think they can talk the patient into. That isn't going to drive down costs at all.

Summary Of A 1993 Republican Health Reform Plan

In November, 1993, Sen. John Chafee, R-R.I., introduced what was considered to be one of the main Republican health overhaul proposals: "A bill to provide comprehensive reform of the health care system of the United States."

Titled the "Health Equity and Access Reform Today Act of 1993," it had 21 co-sponsors, including two Democrats (Sens. Boren and Kerrey). The bill, which was not debated or voted upon, was an alternative to President Bill Clinton's plan. It bears similarity to the Democratic bill passed by the Senate Dec. 24, 2009, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.​

One of those reasons might be because we're one of the most unhealthy countries on the planet. We're lazy as hell, and what we put in our bodies can barely be considered food sometimes.

You mean they actually bother to make sure they aren't cutting off the wrong leg because they are afraid of lawyers?

That would be a GOOD thing.

The reality is, doctors order unnecessary tests because they get a kickback from the testing labs. And then the patient has to schedule another appointment so the doctor can tell him what the results of his lab work was.

Going back to my own wonderful experience.

I had to get a referrel from my Primary Physician to see the Orthopedic specialist.
I then had to get a referrel from my Orthopedic specialist to get the MRI on my knee.
I then had to go BACK to the primary guy to get another referral to the Orthopedic specialist.
Before he would work on it.

I think you are also deluded on how difficult it is to sue a doctor for malpractice in this country.
