After a hundred years on the market, I’m surprised insulin only has a few manufacturers and Walmart is their main customer
The price of a common lifesaving drug has been jacked up to where diabetics are rationing it
This is true and I'm against it. But Walmart has a lot of pull with manufacturers.
One of our customers manufactures for Walmart. They are constantly looking for places to process their parts because Walmart is always on their asses for lower prices.
We used to just drop a trailer in their dock, and pickup our empty, and head out of the place. Because of Walmart, they now make us check in, sign in, provide all kinds of useless information such as the trailer number we dropped. They also regulate that our customer cannot unload us if we don't drop the trailer and instead, wait to be unloaded. They demand that we either detach the trailer, or walk all the way back to the shipping office to wait inside.
I think it's ridiculous that a customer tell their vendors how they will operate their shipping department, but that's what happens when it comes to Walmart.
It is not real insulin there is no conspiracy and it is no cure for the problem. We need a national government that is not afraid of fighting with corrupt drug companies hospitals doctors and insurance companies you name it.
What a complete fool you are. Those corporations BUY their politicians who then do the bidding of those corporations.
And you want 5hem to do even more of that crap.
You are a super duper hater dupe.
I don't actually believe that corporations have nearly as much power over government as people suggest.
That said.... if they think they are going to form a government that is going to stick it to the corporations.... you are crazy. Every authoritarian government, that "sticks it to the corporations" ends up being in bed with all those corporations.
I do. For decades the Senator from Washington State was known as " the Senator from Boeing".
But see, you are pointing to a company with known government contracts.
Fighter jets need engines. So some company has to build it. That's how that works.
But when you look at the broader economy, I don't see any connection between what companies want, and what congress does, on a routine basis.
Most of the finance sector was against the CARD act. The CARD act still passed.
Most of the banking sector was against Frank-Dodd, and it still passed.
Most of the telcom sector was against Net Neutrality laws, and they still passed.
I see government passing laws and rules opposed by most of the companies all the time.
Obama Care was opposed by insurance companies, and corporate America.... it still passed.
And to say you know one guy that was "the Sanator from Boeing".... well what does that even mean? What if the Senator was simply in favor of policies that Boeing was in favor of?
Right now, I hold beliefs about policies that I wager many companies would support. If I decided to run for office, I still hold these beliefs.
If I got into office, it would not surprise me if many companies started donating to my campaign.
Does that mean that I'm owned by those corporations? Or maybe I already held these beliefs my whole life, and they started supporting me after I already had these beliefs?
Now I'm not saying you are wrong.... maybe you are right. But just because someone has policy views that gains him support from some company somewhere, does not to me, mean they are bought and owned.
And honestly, if you really think about.... every single policy throughout all of government.... has a corporate backer somewhere. If you support getting rid of fossil fuels.... there are tons of super wealthy corporations making wind turbines, that want to fund your campaign.
Name any policy by any person, that doesn't have someone in this economy that stands to make money on it. Good luck.
