That’s similar to me. I was a self-employed business owner, paying for my own good insurance plan. Once Obamacare was forced down our throats, the individual marketplace was destroyed, and I was stuck with a high-premium, low-coverage plan. In the meantime, low-income people in the waiting room were bragging how everything was free!
The ultimate was when I cut my hand with a knife in the kitchen, and blood was everywhere. I wrapped my hand in a towel and headed off for the ER, three blocks away. Knowing how I had Obamacare “insurance” and a deductible of $6,000, I asked the fee. They couldn’t tell me, but did admit it would run into the thousands.
I asked for options and they told me I could go to an Urgent Care about 10 miles away, which is what I did, bloody hand and all. But here’s the kicker: in the waiting room were a bunch of Spanish-speaking people, waiting to be seen, with apparently no concern for cost. The reason MY premiums were so high, and MY fee for the ER was so high, was to offset the free care the low-income immigrants were getting.
There is something very wrong in America when the poor people get convenient, top-rate medical care while the middle-income worker has to drive half-hour away - and PAY for the better care the poor are getting.
