According to the Washington Post, English teacher Mary Wood sought to teach her all-white class about what it means to be Black in America using Coates’ literature. However, she was reported by two of her students. They notified the school board that Wood was attempting to discuss race in the classroom. "

Now, if I was a kid and I wanted to get out of a history or social studies assignment, I can see myself just saying "this subject makes me uncomfortable" and not only would I get out of doing the assignment, I may even get my teacher fired...and Lord knows, there are some kids who would love to see certain teachers get fired.
However, I am pretty sure the main students who will be able to get away with the "This subject makes me uncomfortable" shit won't be black students.
