“Due to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ open border policies, Texas has had to foot the bill for medical costs for individuals illegally in the state,” Abbott said in the statement, though migrant encounters at the border began rising while Donald Trump was president in the months after April 2020 through the November election. “Texans should not have to shoulder the burden of financially supporting medical care for illegal immigrants.”

I completely agree. If the government is going to require hospitals and other medical providers to provide healthcare for illegals, the government should compensate those healthcare providers for whatever expenses are incurred. And a full accounting must be given to the people of what the actual costs are for allowing all these millions and millions of migrants into the country at the citizens' expense.

I am sure that the government is reporting only a small fraction of the actual costs of the Biden/Harris horrendous policies re migrants.

Texas doesn't actually care. The whole point is simply to harass and intimidate people.

One of two things will happen. Either non-citizens will be scared out of seeking treatment in the first place, resulting in spreading health maladies and possibly unnecessary deaths. Or, they will quickly realize, as you point out, simply lying about it is an easy and effective way to move on and get the care they need without repercussions. In the latter case, Texas Republicans will look for a new way to harass illegal immigrants.

Lying about it is fraud. Fraud is grounds for expulsion and denial of future immigration.

You mean they aren’t’t Providing hotel rooms, benefit cards subsidized housing, providing shelters and feeding operations? Those have all been on the major news networks within the last few months. Just a week or so ago, I saw a piece that one of the sanctuary cities was discontinuing giving away food in favor of prepaid cards because the illegals weren’t eating the free food because it didn’t meet their “cultural norms”. I saw something similar in the aftermath of the Northridge quake. The Red Cross was providing expensive American meals and the Latinos, many of which were illegals were complaining because they weren’t being fed Latino food. Free food that Americans would pay ten bucks or more for in those days and the ungrateful immigrants were complaining.

Until they are actually evaluated and given asylum, they are illegal aliens with no legal presence. Almost all of them will refuse to show up for their immigration court hearings, and most who do will fail to meet the standards.
