What do you call Jews whose women must cover their hair and bodies? Who wear modest swimwear like “burkhinis”? Who run their communities with their own religious rules? Are their beliefs antithetical to western civilization? How about the Amish? In fact, there are a number of religious sects where women do not have a lot of freedom, yet no one calls them “antithetical to western civilization?

Let’s keep it simple. As long as they follow our laws, which include protection for human rights, they are fine in this country.

But… but…. but ….but what about the Jews. and the Amish?

What about the Moslems? There is no politico- religious ideology more hostile to western norms of society and culture than islamism. Islamic ideology has been completely hostile to both Judaism and Christianity since it was invented by an Arab warlord. Hamas exhibits behaviors customary to 7th century Islamism; war, rapine and conquest. Where do think those behaviors came from?

Women are treated just fine in Orthodox Judaism. Their husbands are required to ask their opinion on matters, their role as Jewish home-makers is valued, and I always feel well respected when I am in an Orthodox shul.

Why such disdain for Orthodox Jews? You sure defend fundamental Islam, where women have to walk behind their husbands, covered in burkas.

The wigs Orthodox women wear are beautiful. They wear makeup and attractive, albeit modest, clothing.
