IN Texas it is against the law to wear or carry in political paraphernalia within a certain distance of a polling place. I believe the original law also disallowed chickens and chupacabras. Your state laws may vary.

In 2008 I was in line to vote. I had my daughter with me to show her how voting works (she was 7). In front of us was a friend of our with her son. He happened to have an Obama shirt on. A lady approached her said he couldn't wear the shirt there. She questioned her and I stated it was the way it is. He happened to have a sweatshirt on and was able to zip it up.

This guy didn't take it so well.

The election worker, identified as a 69-year-old man, was treated at the scene Thursday and returned to his election post at a San Antonio library on Friday, officials said. The suspect was arrested on felony charges of assaulting an elderly person and could face additional charges, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said.
