"In a sweeping overhaul of Texas elections law that Republicans rushed toward approval in the waning hours of the legislative session, one provision stood out to critics as particularly alarming. The hastily-added clause would have made it easy for a judge to overturn an election, even with only thin evidence of fraud. “Just think about that — your election, YOUR election could be overturned without the other side being required to prove actual voter fraud -- to make matters worse, the provision was not in either the Senate or the House version of the bill.” said state Rep. Julie Johnson, D-Carrolton.

Who added the “Overturning Elections” section to it? One of the members of the conference committee that crafted the final version of the bill, state Rep. Travis Clardy, R-Nagodoches, says he doesn’t know. Other top Republicans who worked on the final draft of the legislation say they don’t know either. What’s more, Clardy — and chief author Sen. Bryan Hughes — now denounces the measures related to overturning elections and says Republicans don’t plan to revive them in a future bill."

WTF?? Why are you guys backing away from a bill that will make it easier to overturn an election if the wrong side wins?? That is the most important part of the bill....all of that targeted voter restriction stuff about minority voters was just a distraction....since Conservatives can always claim that since a voting bill doesn't SPECIFICALLY discriminate based on race; means the bill doesn't racially target anyone....I mean, conservatives have made this exact argument since the15th amendment of 1870 was ratified...and we all know there weren't ever any minority voters being discriminated against since that 15th amendment....those subsequent voting rights laws were unnecessary...

Now these coward Republicans are backing away from their own legislation and pretending nobody knows who added that overturning elections clause...really?? I blame it on this guy and all of that critical race theory crap....He basically brought up past Texas History and how Conservatives today are using the same legislation and rhetoric as Conservatives in Texas did years ago...He brought up this to make Republicans feel bad about their own legislation and that isn't right....Now they have to come up with a better way to overturn elections....bummer...

They literally just tried to pass this bill in the wee hours of the night and it failed....

Now they are trying to claim they have no idea how certain provisions of their own bill got into their own bill...

This is keystone cops stuff....

A lot of these laws are going to be overturned.

Well the article answers your question. Someone put in a clause they didn’t like, so they weren’t going to pass it. Simple as that. No one voted on this bill yet so your claims they tried to pass it are a lie.

the people who wrote the bill and were ADVOCATING FOR THAT EXACT SAME PROVISION all claim they have no idea how it got in the bill...

Why would they be denouncing the EXACT SAME PROVISION they were advocating for??

Was it because they were caught and don't want to take the heat for it?

Question would be...why advocate for it at all if you now claim it was bad policy

Okay show us where they advocated that a judge can overturn a whole election on his own.

Maybe a democrat inserted the clause to fuel the outrage that we see in the post. It ain't unusual to sabotage a bill this way.

Okay show us where they advocated that a judge can overturn a whole election on his own.

First of all......Texas is not the only state where they are pushing to make it easier to overthrow an election.....Georgia is another state who did the same thing....In fact, much of the bill comes from the same folks who crafted the Texas bill...

"Over the past 10 days, Georgia Republicans rushed a voter suppression omnibus bill that will make it much easier for the state legislature to overturn elections in the future. It’s not just happening in Georgia. Republicans are considering similar power-grabbing maneuvers in at least seven other states."

So when this provision to make it easier to overturn elections popped up in Texas, yall want to pretend like it was an accident? FOH

And yes.....lawmakers have openly bragged about these provisions....in fact, the reason why these folks in Texas claim they didn't put in that revision may be because the Heritage foundation wrote most of these voter restriction bills and sent them out to other states.....

And they bragged about that too....

"Jessica Anderson, the executive director of Heritage Action for America, an advocacy group affiliated with the powerful Heritage Foundation, told donors in April that the group had both written statutes and provided support for lawmakers doing so. “In some cases, we actually draft them for them,”

Again, you folks didn't say shit until the bill failed and negative attention was drawn....

I see you can’t provide one quote where Republicans said they wanted one judge to be able to easily overturn an election.

Your deflection is noted. You’re full of shit and you got caught.

Carry on, dipshit.

I blame it on this guy and all fo that critical race theory crap....He basically brought up past Texas History and how Conservatives today are using the same legislation and rhetoric as Conservatives in Texas did years ago...He brought up this to make Republicans feel bad about their own legislation and that isn't right....Now they have to come up with a better way to overturn elections....bummer...

Their TDS has driven them over the edge. It's all rage and paranoia. They haven't been thinking straight for a long time.

So, you were pissed when repubs put the provision into the bill

But now you are more pissed when they took it out?

I'm very concerned about the condition of my country.

You're not going to understand.

very concerned about the condition of my country.
You are not concerned enough to take an identifiable position on any issue

This one for instance

All you do is bash republicans coming and going

My identifiable positions on the issues are in the link at the end of the second line of my sig. All you have to do is click and read. But I suspect you don't have the balls to do that. You'd rather lie about me.

You can also start a thread on any issue and invite me to comment. But you don't have the balls for that, either.

Okay. I'm used to it from you guys.
