Texas GOP calls former Governor George W. Bush a "liberal socialist"

Texas Democrats: Republican policy platform is 'disgusting'

16 Wacky Ideas In The Texas Republican Party's New Platform

This is the time of the year I look forward to. This is when Republicans in Texas release the always hilarious "Texas State Republican Party Platform". It never disappoints and this year is certainly no exception.

The Texas Republican Party Platform - pdf

I can't even say "where to begin". It's a treasure trove of ignorance and hate. In fact, even the Republican Party is Texas said it doesn't necessarily represent us.
Well, I have to tell them, yes, it does.

And every time I bring up GOP beliefs, USMB Republicans calls me a liar. And I tell them what I always tell them, "I couldn't lie about this stuff. It would never occur to me." Besides with the rich amount of material Republicans provide, why would I need to make up anything? They make it up for me.

It's not THAT far fetched.

In terms of tolerance of race, religion and ethnicity? George W. Bush was very Liberal. He was very colorblind on appoints and even after 9/11 he stressed, vigorously not to demonize Muslims.

He also expanded Medicare, which is a socialist program.

But on the whole? He was pretty conservative.

I'm not sure I'd call medicare "socialist." It's a funds transfer from workers to retieees, with services and goods being purchased from private entities.

And, I don't see how not being a racist makes one either liberal or conservative. Though today's objections to immigration reform, and the birthers, have a racist element.

From that link:

Things are much better today, now that we have the 17th Amendment. There is no "rampant and blatant corruption, letting corporations and other moneyed interests effectively buy U.S. Senators" any more.

BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA!
But in the case of the original model, the moneyed interests had to go from state to state in order to buy influence. Now they have one-stop shopping on K Street.

Bad as things have become, I cannot see where repealing the 17th could possibly make anything worse.

but consider the case in Mississippi's senate primary. Thad Cochran has every endorsement from DC, the chambers of commerce and the state party. He's going to lose, most likely, to an insurgent who has the energy of ... at most .... 250K gopers, in a state where the goper senator general gets 600K in a general election.

Without the 17th, the people have less ability to make a change. And that's why I conclude that the powerful people wanting to do away with the 17th have exactly the opposite of reform in their minds.
Cochran more than likely would not have been loitering in the Senate for as long as he has without the 17th.

Nice try.

In which of those links does the Texas GOP calls former Governor George W. Bush a "liberal socialist"?

The first link under "Confederate Symbols".

That was the author of the article, not the GOP. He was being satirical.

Nonsense. He has been voting the state gop line forever. Without the 17th, he'd be cruising for re-election. He's being supported by EVERY STATE WIDE ELECTED GOPER IN MISS. His challange's money is FROM OUT OF STATE ... e.g. the Kochs. Please dear, try logic rather than pulling shite out your ass.

Here is how repealing the 17th would have a dramatic impact.

Imagine an issue of utmost importance to a state. So much so the people of the state and the press in the state keep the issue alive for a long time. The people light a fire under their state level politicians to act, and so the state's politicians to enact a law which addresses the issue.

Then one day, the US Senate passes a law which contains a federal preemption in it which nulls and voids all 50 states' laws regarding that issue.

This happens very frequently today.

But what US Senator would ever dare to write a federal preemption into the law if he was chosen by the state legislators whose laws he would be voiding?

Yeah.

That's why we need the 17th amendment repealed. To stop this insidious concentration of power at the top through federal preemptions.

The average voter does not understand how they are losing control over their lives. They only know it is happening, but have no clue how.

But a state legislator has a much better grasp of what is going on. They know exactly how the power is being sucked away from the states, and so they are best fitted to guard it.

Without the 17th he would have been put out to pasture years ago, as his role would have been to serve the MS legislature, not the GOP.

Out of state money would not even be an issue.

Moreover, there is no power of incumbency under the state appointment model.

Keep swinging.

thats because most people have Liberal as well as Conservative views on things depending on the topic........and i am willing to bet even Dean has some conservative views but wont say so because it might be a Republican view....and heaven forbid if he was honest once in a while.....

Cray Cray Jones think's Perry is the coming of the anti-Christ.

Glenn Beck has a brocrush on Perry, and Perry and Glenn might just body slam Jones.

So basically you saw the word "god" and shit your pants. Did your priest piss on your frosted flakes or something?

Like I said, you stopped reading after page three. Here, let me help:

If you want to cite something quote it, first then provide your view of what you think it says. Otherwise your list is just a bunch of random bull shit. You might as well be pissing in the wind.

You stopped reading at the end of page three. This was at the top of page four:

Opposition to Socialism- Socialism breeds mediocrity. America is exceptional. Therefore, the
Republican Party of Texas opposes socialism in all of its forms.

That's why they want to phase out Social Security. That would include disaster relief. Education. The Emergency room. Food banks. All of those are "socialism". Even charity.

Anything where American is helping American is Republican "Socialism". That's why they are such an ignorant bunch.

Love this part:

We believe the Environmental Protection Agency should be abolished.

Why? Because they want to live like pigs in slop?

This is the very foundation of a pro-theocracy argument. Do Republicans on the USMB understand that? What some would call a "Christian Taliban".

You want access to the Emergency room? Then effing go no one is stopping you. You think the feds are running emergency rooms? Are you retarded? You think the federal government invented Food banks? Are you mentally handicapped?

As for the EPA, yeah that POS organization needs to be abolished, along with the IRS.

The very essence of a right wingnut tard. I love the part about "you think the feds are runnnig emergency rooms?" This is someone so stupid, clearly, they don't know who pays for the emergency room.

And this idea about "go out and buy"? If you don't have education or a job or you've been cleaned out by a natural disaster, you don't have the money to buy any of those things.

Ah these right wingers. I know, I know. It's not right to laugh at the pathetic. But it's so hard not to.

Who the effing hell do you think is paying for emergency rooms, numb nuts? Just cause you don't effing pay your own way does not mean others like me don't. People like me get to pay an order of magnitude higher than we should because moochers like you don't pay and also because the feds don't pay full rate for medicare procedures.

As for your lack of education and lack of job and lack of personal responsibility and lack foresight to avoid natural disasters, and lack of foresight to save money to buy any of these things, eff you, ya POS moocher. Grow a pair and get up off your ass I'm tired of carrying your moocher ass on my back.
