Here’s the thing and I might take some criticism for this. I’m actually willing to give this guy a chance. People do change. The Syrian people deserve something good they are historically and amazing people. Just think of Babylon. And they had some of the greatest empires in all of history I mean, obviously it was 1000 years ago, but still.

Israel and Turkey allegedly bribed a bunch of Syrian officers to run away. It’s Assads fault for paying the Syrian generals and troops a shit salary. Now if Al Jolani turns out to still be like an ISIL guy… that makes the governments of Israel and Turkey to be demons. Anyway we will see though.

Now the thing is Assad was said to be a protector of Syrian Christians and Jews. Let’s see what happens with Al Jolani….again the guy allegedly has a controversial history. But through history there have been men who have had questionable pasts, but change their ways.

Assad was a Ba’athist… but not the same as the Iraqi baath ….Syria was pro Iran. So that’s an issue ….

Seems that Syria under Assad was not nearly as strong as Iraq under Saddam. And in the 1980s Iraq was one of the strongest economies in the Middle East... I don’t think that Syria under Assad was ever really at that kind of a level. Saddam was obviously a dictator and he made a lot of money… but seems like at least before the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait that Iraq was quite prosperous.

Assad was not really ever a fighter. He was an eye doctor.

Anyway his legacy will be one of running away. I highly doubt that he can return to power after this fall from Grace. I guess in his mind he just wanted to live rather than die a death of dignity perhaps. At least that is what a lot of Arabs would probably think.
