If this action had been done privately, the other kids would not have gotten the wake up that they very much may have needed. Now they know that the dress code will be enforced if they themselves were to try and cross any lines.

My mom once told me that when shorter dresses were becoming the fad in the 60s teachers would randomly grab girls in the lunch room and make them kneel in from of everyone. If the dress didn't touch the floor at the knee, the girl was publically written up.

If a parent does not want her child to submit to lawful and reasonable standards of dress, private or home school is an option.
