These questions are irrelevant because the girl was clearly shocked at that moment even though she thought her opponent was female. She didn't even know at that time her opponent was transgender; she didn't find that out until after the match. She said she would have filed a complaint whether he was transgender or not.

And if a foul was committed, then there would have been punishment. But apparently the school reviewed the footage and didn't find one.

Actually, it's the same problem. It wasn't just the ref who didn't see it, it was a whole room full of people who didn't see it. And frankly, the video of the event (which you can see in the OP) is inconclusive, at best.

If this were a cisgendered girl who maybe committed an inadvertent foul, you'd have probably given her the benefit of the doubt.

Except for a tiny sliver of people for whom girls sports is just another opportunity for them to be humiliated by their own lack of initiative and willingness to make effor.

I suspect that tiny sliver is the main cheerleaders (so to speak) for ending girls sports by introducing male athletes.

Good news is that after a brief rally, that tiny sliver is failing, something with which they are very familiar. Wrongs are being righted for the females who were pushed out of sports or out of the top spots. Some girls lost opportinities for participation that can never be gotten back. Those standing injustice to those few must be the only comfort for the losing side of this issue.

You are right, though. I didn't get into college on a sports scholarship for a bullshit sport. I got into college through academic study and by joining the military to pay for it. So I guess I can't get worked up about "boo, hoo, a boy stole my trophy".

Collegiate Athletics stopped being this fun thing where people competed and somehow became a big machine of corporate endorsements and government subsidies, with everyone putting their hands out. Then you hear the stories about how the Varsity Blues guy was telling rich people how to make up fake sports histories for their kids to get admissions.

Now, back when I was at UIC in the 1980s, about a third of our student fees went to propping up their athletics program. UIC didn't have a football team, and its basketball team was mediocre at best. But they still insisted on having this program. (Even though if you had ANY talent at anything, you went to Urbana, not UIC.)

The school didn't do or say a goddamn thing. To make matters worse, the school never bothered to tell her that her opponent was a biological male before the match or to get her or her parents' consent.

The match was held on December 6 of last year. As mentioned, the student didn't know her opponent was trans until she was told by a coach from another school later. She immediately told her mother and her mother e-mailed the coach. The coach told them he would look into it and see if there was more video they could review and that he would get back to them later that day or the next morning. He never did. In fact, they didn't hear shit for almost two months.

On top of everything else, by law, the school had 48 hours to report a suspected sexual assault to the county sheriff's office. They didn't report it until January 30 - a month and a half later - and only because the day before the school was contacted by media for comment on the issue.

As of today, the school still has not commented one way or the other about the incident so we have no way of knowing what their findings were or if they bothered to investigate at all.

That's what it's about for you, I don't really care.
