Sure. The consequences being that they cannot hold those jobs. Someone who opposes capital punishment should not expect to be hired to work on death row if their faith would prohibit them from participating in an execution. And you have that right. These clerks, however, are the government. They are agents of the state and they cannot use their own, personal, religious beliefs to refuse to do that which the law requires. Should a criminal judge with a personal, faith based opposition to the death penalty be permitted to refuse to impose a death verdict a jury returns? How about a Catholic clerk refusing to issue marriage licenses to divorced Catholics? There is no rational argument that can be made to allow a government official to refuse to do that which the law requires. That is certainly your right. The bible, however, has no role in our laws. Never has and never will. You can live your life according to your own interpretation of any holy book you want; but you cannot ask or demand others to do so."love Ted" and hate the constitution.
I love the Bible much more than either............
Why do liberals always say conservatives (Christians) are "forcing" or "demanding" things?
We just want rights like gays and others, to be free to live by our own principles and not be discriminated against or "bullied"....
Actually, they can if they are willing to live with the consequences of their actions..........
