I went looking for a 48 star Flag on Ebay and found about a dozen listings for "tea stained flags" in both 48 and 50 star and other configurations. Apparently the staining of Flags with tea and other chemicals is both a commercial enterprise and a private cottage industry. I admit that I am old school when it comes to the Flag but I don't get it. Are they making a political statement or is a tea stained Flag more pleasing to some eyes. There is no law pertaining to the display of U.S. Flags but I consider it disrespectful.

Tea staining makes the flag appear to be an antique so the owner can lie about how old it is.
Today's pop culture probably has no idea that the number of stars indicates the vintage or maybe 1959 seems to be the dark ages. who would view a stained 50 star Flag as an antique?
