Tax the Rich!

No, we dot have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem. Cut spending, force the government at all levels to live within its income.

The problem with that is in order to cut spending, you reduce or eliminate things people use. When that happens, they complain and vote against you. I recall the wise words of the late Professor Walter E Williams:

"Let's say I'm going to run for Congress. My platform will be I will bring no federal money back to our state. Would you vote for me?"

The problem there is they want to be in office for years as opposed to getting elected, doing the right thing and let the chips fall wherever they do.

"I'm not going to do the right thing because you might not re-elect me" is a horrible position.

If you took every dime the 'rich' earn, raise the tax bracket to 100% it wouldn't even cover the deficit let alone pay off any of the debt.

Yea, but it makes these greedy little worthless Socialists feel good to steal money from "the rich". They think they are entitled to have somebody else pay their bills. You know, because they are alive.
The only thing Public schools teach about Home Economics is the welfare check comes every month.
People actually think water, gas and electric come from magic.

The Moon Bats also think all the energy they get should come from solar and wind.

Yea, they are that stupid.

Maybe if people get hit hard enough they will actually start holding "their guy" accountable.

Remember when that lying asshole Obama told Americans that he wouldn't raise taxes on anybody making less than $250K but he did? There were like 20 tax increases that affected either directly or indirectly almost every American.

Now we have that lying sonofabitch China Joe saying he won't raise taxes on anybody making less than $450K a year.

Only an Useful Idiot would believe him.

We have many Useful Idiots in this country, don't we?

Biden is running the same playbook. Instead of telling people unless they make
Is that why Democrats sent almost a trillion to nations that hate us and gave Americans a whopping $600 of their own money back?

Yes, but think of how much more advanced Pakistan will be now that we are funding their gender studies.

How did such a “right wing initiative” like gender studies in Pakistan make it into the budget? How come Liberals are not condemning such an egregious spending item when Americans are struggling? Because it is shit like this that Democrats expect the US taxpayer to fund.
Professors have to eat too?

They can pick topics that are of more relevant value here in the US; you know, studies that will benefit US. Otherwise, find a new line of work.

Here's a bit that doesn't fit with your point. Social Security was designed to be a self supporting trust that worked too well. The democrats discovered it was a cash cow in the early 60's and robbed it with the promise to pay back. Now you seem to think it is an entitlement program. Is your wage an entitlement program? No, didn't think so, but that is where SS comes from. Social Security is NOT an entitlement program. Neither are Medicare or disability as they are paid into by the beneficiaries just like any other insurance. Medicaid, OTOH is an entitlement. So, your post isn't completely wrong.

Correct about Medicaid, but Medicare is also paid out of the general fund. Those few bucks they take out of our paycheck could never possibly support a program like that. Think of what you and your employers paid into it under your name, and one major surgery that costs 250K or more. Since it's inception, we've grown older and older as time went on. There are very few who paid more into the program than they got out in a lifetime.
Granted, but such is the nature of insurance--especially group insurance. My father, grandfather, mother and grandmother paid more in to SS and Medicare than they ever received and that makes up for some of the shortfall that premiums don't cover.
But today with medical miracles if they arent fucked by BidenCare, you could live well into the 100s and you would then receive more than you put in.

Fuck it, I am out of the workforce and currently the average life expectancy for men and women is 76 and 81 respectively. So raise the retirement age if you want. I think it would be more effective to make the government more accountable for responsible stewardship of the fund though. People living past 100 is a bit of a stretch and it is mitigated by the number of people who die prior to retirement.

Technically we would be raising the S.S. eligibility age. Not to be picky as I know what you were saying but I'm 59 and retired. I'm not eligible for S.S. yet. I still haven't decided 100% when I will apply. Probably at first eligibility so I don't get caught in some new law and can use it when I can still enjoy it.

Every superpower in the past 5,000 years has fallen to gluttony. I have no confidence that these idiots in Washington will change their ways any more than previous leaders and idiots of now former superpowers.

Neither do I which is why I support nukes for everyone as that will likely be the only deterrent.

The USA is going to crash hard, then the rest of the world will crash. All these stupid shit politicians will run for the hills and pretend it wasn't their fault.

Raising the retirement age is okay for somebody sitting behind the desk, but there are a lot of fields such as construction where that isn't practical.

Hit hard how? Biden is going to spend 2 trillion. Will that hurt you personally or financially? No it won't; it won't to most people. If we had a consumption tax specific for bringing down the debt, and increased it as the debt increases, then people will start taking a stand against this spending.

But that's what it's all about. Everybody wants to keep their cushy job over there.

We were discussing raising taxes. However you want to do that, whatever.

Thank you!!! The working class can't stand all day on the factory floor at age 70 it's ridiculous. The ONLY reason government wants to raise the retirement age is because the assholes spent our money and now want to cheat us by hoping most of us die before we can collect $1 in benefits.

I agree, blue collar workers' bodies wear out much quicker than desk jockeys'.
