We have Seattle, a fairly pretty city that has attracted liberals for years and some major employers such as Amazon, Starbucks, Microsoft and Boeing. As in many cities there are less fortunate individuals that live in Seattle. We don’t really need to debate how or why some individuals became less fortunate, which may be the subject of a different thread. What is interesting though is how Seattle plans on dealing with the less fortunate. The Seattle City Council has decided the best approach would be to tax the wealthy companies, those with revenues of over $20 million. Originally the charge or tax would be about $540/year for each employee of these large companies. That definitely got their attention, companies started pushing back. After some deliberation the City Council dropped the tax to $275/year for each employee. Now Amazon is questioning its growth in Seattle. So if you want to tax the rich, be prepared for the rich to cut back or move.

Good for Seattle. If they don't want big companies in their city then they should get rid of them. :20:

Do you happen to have any idea as to what it would cost Seattle if these large companies moved out of Seattle?

Not exactly but i've got a good idea. If they want to be Detroit 2.0 then good for them.

Good analogy, I can understand wanting to help the less fortunate but biting the hand of the ones that feed the city is probably not a good approach.

How about the rich taking the zillions the market has yielded them thus far and hand out a raise in wages. I'm sick of the threats, our way or we'll leave...bye mf's!!

Government forced charity is always a bad idea. It's a nice way of saying "theft."

Yeah, as was already posted, pretty sure Seattle wouldn't want to become the next Detroit.

There is some truth to the fact that wages and opportunity has been almost non existent...the corporations and businesses large and small have had a field day in hiring and paying sub par wages and compensation for years...

That bed was made with the policies of Pelosi Reid and Obama...they want a poor America...they want a dependent America and they did their best to create one...the people had no where to turn after the recession began...hoping it would be over soon but Obama did nothing to help...he just called it the new normal...then came Trump with his words of hope and AMERICA first...he won and we are getting back to greatness...

Creating a platform for small businesses is a smart way to combat the big guys and cities should be working to do that...California is lost forever...don't let it happen in Seattle or anywhere else...get the new normal's out of office and elect business minded people to lead and you will prosper once again as an individual a community or a state or a city...

Don't let the new normal's win....

Wages have been stagnant since the 70's yet it is Pelosi, Reed and Obama's fault. Why of course that akes sense.

It seems impossible to reason with liberals about the stupidity their tax policy. The rich already pay a top marginal rate (1) that is more than double the rate paid by those in the second tax bracket and (2) that is over 60% higher than the rate paid by those in the third tax bracket. This is not counting the fact that the rich just had their state and local tax deduction capped at $10K by the Trump tax cuts. And, of course, good luck getting a liberal to care that the rich pay the salaries of tens of millions of Americans.
