China ain't being hurt by Trump's tariffs silly Willy! We, the consumer is, with higher retail prices to cover the tariff tax the American importer will be forced to pay in higher wholesale prices, then us....in higher retail prices.

If we have no manufacturing base in the USA for the tariffed product then it will be years before factories are built and set up here, while we will have to be buying the products at the hyper inflation mega prices....if the whole seller even moves his products back to the USA to make....

Depending on the tariff %, it still may be more profitable for the whole seller to pay the tariff higher price for the goods, than to have to spend the money to create and build the assembly line factories here to manufacture their goods....with the much higher overhead and American worker wages and payroll taxes they are forced to pay as well...

This dilly dallying around puts it all on us consumer's shoulders with higher prices due to the tariffs, without any guarantee the whole seller will even bring his manufacturing back or if he finds another way around the tariffs.........sigh.....

I say if we want manufacturing to come home, stop playing around with this tariff bull crap that only hurts us with even higher inflationary prices.... Just force manufacturers somehow, to come back and skip all of these tariff games....that is put on us, while the trump admin collects the tariff taxes from our higher prices, from us....the little guys....
We were hurt when they stole our jobs

Look at the screwballs he's nominating for his cabinet. A sexual predator & drug abuser, a rapist, a Putin, Assad apologist, an anti vaxx whack job, an anti migrant/immigrant strongman, a mega billionaire nutter in it for the money & that's only in the past week or so.

A slew of bottom feeders who are just chomping at the bit to serve The Subhuman & on his orders blow the whole thing up. That's what millions of people support.

What a sick Country this is.
I've mentioned many times here that I learned in 2016 that America isn't what I thought it was. There's no way we would fall for this, we're too savvy, I thought. We'll laugh this ignorant celebrity clown off the stage.

It took me a few years to accept it, but I have. So I wasn't shocked by this election.

There’s No Denying It Anymore: Trump Is Not a Fluke—He’s America
"But we, as a country, absolutely deserve what’s about to happen to us. We, as a nation, have proven ourselves to be a fetid, violent people, and we deserve a leader who embodies the worst of us. We are not “better” than Trump. If anything, thinking that we are better than Trump, thinking there is some “silent majority” who opposes the unserious grotesqueries of the man, is the core conceit that has led the Democratic Party to such total ruin. America willed Trump into existence. He was created from our greed, our insecurities, and our selfishness. We have summoned him from the depths of our own bile and neediness, and he has answered.

"And now that he is here, we deserve our fate, because the most fundamental truth about Trump’s reelection is that Trump was right about us. He will be president again because he, and perhaps he alone, saw us for how truly base, depraved, and uninformed we are as a country. Trump is not a root cause of our ills. He did not create the conditions that allowed him to rise. He is, and always has been, a mirror. He is how America sees itself."

If Mac1958 is getting his thoughts from far lefties at the Nation then he has totally lost his way

No doubt he’s planning to leave the country too and good riddance.

Yep, this is what the Trump supporters voted for. Now we all have to suffer the consequences of higher prices. What do you think?

/----/ Hey dummy, how many times do you have to be told Dementia Joe kept most of Trump's tariffs and added two more? Why no fake outrage over that? How many times do I have to tell you tariffs encourage consumers to buy American?
Dummy.

They can do as they please, but to pre-emptively blame Trump is interesting. They make decisions, they are notorious for squeezing vendors to cut their prices, so Wal Mart should do the same against Chinese vendors post-tariff increase. They have been making millions there, time to cut that down.

Perhaps Trump can suggest that the tax cuts that he fought for will be applied to all corporations except those for which the primary merchandise is imported from China, based on some percentage. Wal Mart enjoys a MASSIVE tax cut from the amount they paid in 2016 before Trump was elected.

So...
/----/ Interesting, but I'm not sure that is legal. Walmart already pays the tariffs when they import China crap.

I agree, I was being somewhat facetious, somewhat critical of them in a direct manner.

They have made many Chinese vendors millionaires, much of it on the backs of the U.S taxpayer who has increased their debt substantially.

Time for a sharp change of course before millions of lives are lost in a war that was preventable but instead the West kept happily arming their enemy.

he bankrupted a casino for fuck's sake. a biz'nez designed so the house always wins in the end.

afraid or drunk on koolaide. either way, america is going down in flames.
/----/
Tell us how only the Trump casinos closed down. Tell us again how the new casinos in NY, PA, and Conn had no effect on Atlantic City. Go ahead; we love fairy tales.

that tax hike would have been 28% ... eisenhower's rate was 90% & kennedy's was 70% i believe. donny wants to extend his 2017 cut due to expire in 2025. how is THAT gonna get paid for?

How much international trade did he rely on during Eisenhower's and Kennedy's tenure?

As far as extending cuts, I assume you are talking about the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Allowing people to keep more of the money they make increases tax revenue in the long run. People tend to spend the money they were able to keep, stimulating the economy leading to economic growth and thus increasing revenue. This cut has been in place since 2017 and you guys like to talk quite a bit about how well the Biden economy is doing. Do you think it could be the delayed reaction of the tax cuts?(it is) Trump tariffs are still in place as well. Democrats tend to think in the short term, but in the long term, taking money from the people and letting the government redistribute as it sees fit is not a recipe for long term economic success.

The great thing is that Trump will extend these cuts. Pairing that with cuts from DOGE and you have a serious WINNER for the economy.

Sure, if they can compete.

How are they supposed to compete with child labor and regulatory environments in China that are made to help corporations succeed, not hinder them. You won't find people talking about greedy corporations in China because the people understand that these corporations are their bread and butter. Spoiled, envious, indoctrinated Democrats in the US lack this understanding.

The way to make US corporations more competitive is to either lower regulations, pay and benefits OR to add a tariff to imported goods to level the playing field. The Democrats answer is to RAISE US corporate taxes because they are making too much money. You can't make this kind of stuff up. It is almost as if the Democrats don't want US corporations to succeed and want them to leave the country.
