Tariffs a Good Idea. Everything I buy now is made in China.!!$?$

Do you buy expensive American stuff all the time?

I do. Not all of it is expensive, but much of it is.

When I buy tires, I buy Goodyear, cause there is a plant near here.

Bought a grill recently. Not easy to find made in America, and all stainless. Wlimington Grill, made in NC was the answer. Will outlast 10 grills made in China.

Other recent purchases made in USA...
Lots of cat food, rain gauge, ceiling texture brush, JB Weld...

I seek it to get quality and employ my neighbors. I deliberately avoid China and will buy from Mexico, Canada (bought a bunch of floor air registers recently, but I don't think I have many Canadian goods in my house), or other friendly countries if there is not a suitable product made in USA. Lots of people do.

Interestingly the floor grates I bought from Canada recently have not increased in price. I guess they will go up a bit soon. Fine! MAGA.

Chinese workers get paid 25 cents an hour, and live onsite in factory provided housing on site in China.

Forced labour exploitation

"Forced labour exploitation of citizens and foreign migrants is also imposed by the private economy, including in factories, brick kilns, coal mines, fishing, domestic servitude, and forced begging.27 Since the 2018, reports of forced labour of students placed into production line jobs masked as internships have continued, with cases recorded in automobile28 and electronics factories.29 Forced labour and abuse is also well-documented in the fishing sector,30 including on distant water longline fleets,31 Ghanaian flagged industrial trawl fleets operated by Chinese corporations,32 and Chinese vessels fishing illegally in Somali waters.33 Fishers have reported experiencing wage withholding, food deprivation, physical and sexual violence, restricted movement, and debt bondage, and other abuses at sea.34"

Yeah, they get 25 cents an an hour and live onsite in faux internships. Those are the 'lucky' ones.

Just like buying local, the higher cost is short term by boosting your local economy.

This is how you pay Americans a living the wage.
Only Trumps tariffs will only bring manufacturing if the cost of goods is close.
Products made in China, India, Mexico will still cost less even after a tariff

The tariffs won't make that much difference in prices. Manufacturing in America will be bolstered with these tariffs, there will be more jobs and higher wages. American products will be favored.

Nobody’s stopping anybody from buying 100% American if they want to

I think Tariffs are a good Idea. Everything I buy now is made in China.!1$ We need a 50% Tariff on goods made in China!?!!$

So you like paying more for rubbish then?

Or you prefer being forced to buy quality, and instead of ten things, you only get one?

Only they'll still cost more and then people won't be able to buy as much stuff.

So, why can't 'you' buy anything made in the U.S. today? Try hard to actually think rationally.
You can.. .it just costs a lot. If you want to pay 2-4Xs the amount.

Made in America Jeans = $99+
Import Jeans = $20-$40

AFTER TARIFFS

Made in America Jeans = $99
Import Jeans $30-$50

Who wins? No one except the wealthy who get tax cuts.

It will be a win in the long run. Unlike Biden who tried to kill fossil fuels and ended up making everything more expensive for four years.

We won't be buying imports. We will make stuff here. Profits with be higher, wages will be higher. Your, old, dated economics will be dead and buried.
Prices will be astronomically higher. Wages? Not so much.
