I think if you post it in the lounge, say in a real friendly area, like the Coffee Shop, it shouldn't end up flame material. But that's just me.

No, it shouldn't be fodder for the flamers. Talking about family is supposed to be against the rules, at least that's the impression I have gotten and what I've been told, but if you had those people on ignore as you say you do, then you wouldn't be reading what they say all the time.
