Actually, Harris is a perfect match for Joe. While chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Joe authored a crime bill that tied federal funds to help the states with prisons to adopting the three strikes rule and imposing excessively long prison sentences for nonviolent crimes, and when Harris was Ca AG, she argued before the USSC that Ca should be able to violate a SC ruling that Ca prisons were so overcrowded that keeping people in these prisons constituted cruel and unusual punishment. Her reason: Ca needed the cheap labor the prisoners provided.

In her defense, this wasn't exactly slavery.
