The Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that states can sentence juveniles to life without parole, in a case brought by a Mississippi man who murdered his grandfather when he was 15 years old.

In the 6-3 decision splitting along ideological lines, the justices rejected putting a limit on states’ ability to sentence minors to life imprisonment, saying there’s no violation of the Eighth Amendment’s protection against cruel and unusual punishment.

Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh, writing for the conservative majority, said the case demonstrates a “horrific tragedy” involving a homicide and a juvenile.

Now all that needs to happen is for the States to get it together.

.....here, 6' 9'' Edmund Kemper ALSO murdered his grandparents at age 15....the doctors loved him later and said he was cured
..after getting out of the Mental facility his kill count as a serial murderer = 8
--one of those was his mother-- who he beat to death with a hammer--THEN cut off her head---THEN yelled at the head---THEN threw darts at it --THEN tried to destroy her vocal cords
..he had an IQ of 145...he is interviewed on Youtube =very fascinating ...a very well spoken man--

Released at the age of 21 after convincing psychiatrists he was rehabilitated,

Because the poor psychiatrists were incapable of making a judgement call and must have been taken advantage of.

depending on the depth of depravity of the crime, i have no problems with that decision.

You quote an extreme case to build a straw man. Your case is that we are incapable of redemption. Nobody with any sense is buying that.

The cases in which any 15 year old needs to be considered for a life sentence without parole should all be extreme cases.

An attention seeking dumb ass who loves to come here, make asinine claims and stir up much anger
and consternation.

Like the bit about Edmund Kemper being rehabilitable.
Some people are simply beyond the reach of society to let them ever live among normal healthy human beings.
It's called insanity. Like claiming everyone is capable of redemption. That is in itself, crazy.

..you don't get a sentence based on REDEMPTION!!!!!! you get it based on the crime
DUH!!!!!!!

In any case, sentencing for crimes committed is and should remain a state issue; the federal gov't has no business sticking their noses into areas/issues that are or could be better served at the state and local level. It's on them to decide how long somebody goes to prison and how long they should remain there, NOT the federal gov't. Certainly mistakes are going to be made; some innocent people get convicted and serve time, others are/were in prison far too long, and still others not long enough. But the federal gov't is sure as hell not going to make it better. IMHO, the federal gov't has never made ANYTHING better.

Wrong answer, Cornflake. When you are capable of presenting an actual argument, then I will pay attention to you. Until then, we are done here.
