Supreme Court smacks Trump down on foreign aid.

The second time the court has refused to step in to help Trump.

Congress passed it, it was signed, Trump can't just pretend he can end it.

It is only in regards to a temporary order to make payments until the case is heard and more direction given.

SCOTUS in no way “ordered” the Administration to unfreeze all spending.

They basically said the lower court needs to clarify its ruling, so then SCOTUS can then smack it down entirely.

The case has been heard. The court ruled. The Supreme Court ruled the court had the jurisdiction to enforce the payment of the money. They just had to do it in a more rational way. (not 36 hours)

That didn't happen.

And Trump didn't ignore anything here.

Trump did something, he got sued, some Biden judge gave some undoable vague TRO demand, Trump's people appealed, Roberts intervened, the SC gave direction to the District Court.

“The unsigned order does not actually require the Trump administration to immediately make up to $2 billion in foreign aid payments; it merely clears the way for the district court to compel those payments, presumably if it is more specific about the contracts that have to be honored,” Vladeck said.

The Case HAS NOT BEEN HEARD. This is a Temporary Restraining Order, put in place by the District Court before any actual merits arguments have been made or even applied.

Learn how the system works before commenting on it. dipshit.

Yep. So now some Biden appointed district judge has to say who to pay, why it needs to be paid (This is a TRO remember, not a judgement) and give the Trump admin reasonable time to comply.

As this is a TRO the District judge will also have to show the holding of the funds will cause serious irreparable damage to the people being paid.

Yes, provide a feasible time line. 36 hours wasn't. Now it will likely be 30 days or something like that.

The lower court heard the case and ruled on it. The Supreme Court said they had jurisdiction and allowed them to come up with a reasonable time line for the money to be released.

The majority noted that given a court-ordered deadline to spend the money last week had already passed, the lower courts should “clarify what obligations the government must fulfil to ensure compliance with the temporary restraining order.”

Well, that should be easy enough to sandbag.

In the meantime the money will not go out.
Which is really all that matters. So what the supreme Court did was nothing. They re-clarified some procedural law but did nothing to enforce anything because they can't.

AND, tell the admin which payments need to be made in that time. you keep ignoring the part of the judgement I highlighted.

From Fox News.

At issue is how quickly the Trump administration needs to pay the nearly $2 billion owed to aid groups and contractors for completed projects funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), at a time when the administration has issued a blanket freeze on all foreign spending in the name of government "efficiency" and eliminating waste.

In a new court filing Monday, Acting U.S. Solicitor General Sarah Harris said that while the plaintiffs' claims were likely "legitimate," the time U.S. District Judge Amir Ali gave them to pay the outstanding invoices was "not logistically or technically feasible."

Exactly what I've been arguing.

SCOTUS rules on nearly $2 billion in frozen USAID payments

Actually I want some of the money to go out, IF the Judge is specific on what he wants paid.

"Biden appointed Judge orders Trump admin to pay $55M to transgender surgery clinic in Thailand" would be GREAT press.

That's the argument, not the ruling.

The TRO is just that, temporary. The people asking for the $$ have to show they will be irreparably harmed by not being paid before the judgement.

Now the judge has to tell the Trump admin which outlays meet that criteria.

He can't do that any more than Trump can. It's been passed, it's going out.

Could be but I would like for the news to be more honest over that. That's simply bribe money for something or another.

Congress approved the funds. The President cannot trample over the Constitution on a whim.

No Trumpers, Trump is not a dictator.

Not a very good one, for sure.

I do like that the court ruled that Trump isn't a government unto himself.

They did no such thing.

They told the District Court to clarify what has to be paid out under the TRO, and give a reasonable timeline for it.
