This is a sports-culture vignette in honor of the upcoming Super Bowl...

GO EAGLES!!!

GO EAGLES CHEERLEADERS!!!

Eagles Cheerleaders (Official Website)

The New England Patriots were about to face the underdog Philadelphia Eagles in the much-hyped Super Bowl 52 [2018]. The Goliath-like Patriots QB (Tom Brady) was slated to win his whopping 6th Super Bowl trophy for his coach Bill Belichick. The Patriots cheerleaders were eager about the big game and planned to look simply gorgeous for the game. It was sheer media fun, and the Patriots cheerleaders were like daisies for the ultimate capitalism-symbolic sports-event in America!

However, the gritty-scrappy underdog Eagles were still 'in the mix' and wanted to challenge the Patriots' overall might and 'aura.' The Eagles were led by backup-QB Nick Foles who wanted to lead the team to greatness, and Foles had done a rather handsome job, rallying his struggling team after phenom-QB Carson Wentz went out with a season-ending injury. Foles carried the team past the Rams, Giants, Falcons, and even the mighty Minnesota Vikings. Now, the lovely Eagles cheerleaders were ready to root for their team in the tiny but real hope that the Eagles had that outside-miracle of a chance to really rally and somehow (some way) upset the monstrous Tom Brady.

One sports-writer (Ted Satan) asked, "Will this game be more about Brady and Foles or more about Patriots cheerleaders trying to upstage Eagles cheerleaders?" Ted was ironically perceptive with his wry question, since this Super Bowl would mark the Eagles' chance to avenge their loss to the titan Patriots in Super Bowl 39 [2005]. The Eagles did not want to lose two Super Bowls to the Patriots, especially since the Eagles' rival, the NY Giants, had already become the only team to defeat Brady's Patriots in the Super Bowl (and they did it twice --- under the tight leadership of gifted QB Eli Manning). Foles wanted to be like Eli Manning (an 'everyman hero'), not Joe Namath (a 'media-model')! So it was really a 'contest of egos.'

GOD: Super Bowl 52 [2018] is about pizzazz.
SATAN: It's also about incredible vanity!
GOD: You're right, Satan, but mankind appreciates 'contests.'
SATAN: Capitalism has made the Super Bowl a cup for ads.
GOD: Perhaps that's true, but everyone loves the cheerleaders!
SATAN: Those girls are trophy-wives for quarterbacks like Brady.
GOD: Not true. Brady is married. The cheerleaders symbolize optimism.
SATAN: You're dreaming. Sports is an enterprise, even pornography.
GOD: I disagree. What about the Chicago Bears and the New York Yankees?
SATAN: Maybe there are 'iconic' teams symbolizing American idealism...
GOD: We need to encourage mankind to focus on the positives.
SATAN: Well, no sane gambler would bet against the Patriots!
GOD: No one wants competitive games to become predictable...
SATAN: So what's the use of the cheerleaders?
GOD: They still represent the 'fashion of etiquette.'
SATAN: There's nothing wrong with ad-revenue.
GOD: Oh, please. Capitalism is also about music!
SATAN: Let's see if the Super Bowl is disrupted by some awkward Trump speech.
