Study Hawaii s Low Rate of Gun Injuries Shows Strict Gun-Control Laws Work - Civil Beat

Hawaii had the fewest non-fatal injuries from firearms in 2010 in a comparison of 18 states, including California, New York and Florida, a new study shows.

The report found that states with stricter gun-control laws — regulating guns and ammo, requiring background checks before sales, reporting lost or stolen firearms and keeping dangerous people from buying weapons — had the lowest injury rates.

It was published in the August edition of the American Journal of Public Health.

Hawaii had lowest injury rate — 3.3 non-fatal gun injuries per 100,000 people.

That compares with an average of 19 non-fatal injuries for the 18 states studied. South Carolina had the highest rate with 36.6 per 100,000 people.

now let's look at the demographics of hawai....and those other 18 states you mentioned....

I think most people know by now that (according to the DOJ, FBI and BJS) negroes commit over HALF of ALL violent crime in this country despite only making up 13% of the population.

Actually, your own Web site doesn't point to that all. Vermont and Utah have some of the least stringent gun laws in the country and they also rank near the bottom. Maryland and California have much stricter gun laws and they are in the upper half.

How about murder rates by firearm? New Hampshire and Vermont are near the bottom of the pack with less than .05 murders per 100,000 people and gun control in those states is practically non-existent. Yet, Washington D.C. which the strictest gun control in the country is astronomically high.

Hawaii is less than 3% black.

Don't forget that inconvenient truth.

Gun violence correlates to one statistic, the percentage of blacks in the area being reported.

Kill the bad guys. Lock up the crazies.

Leave lawful gun owners alone.

The gun laws in our Nation's capital, Washington D.C. are just as strict if not stricter than Hawaii but the crime rate percentage is among the highest in the Country.

You guys realize that by posting a study I want to hear the other side right? It's not that i completely believe the study. I am interested in the truth.

Rhode Island has perhaps the least restrictive gun laws but is lower percentage of gun deaths than Hawaii.

Shhhh.....that sort of factual nonsense doesn't fit into the Agenda. We'd rather not talk about those little inconvenient truths.
