Access to guns is too easy the left screams? Oh really?! There was a time in this nation when every hearth had a rifle or other long gun hanging proudly over it and almost half the pickup trucks had one or two rifles slung proudly in the back window. Homes had a rifle or shotgun leaning against the wall in the parents bedroom or a 38 special in the sock drawer. Our culture thought nothing of this. It was normal. And we didn't have the problem with school shootings or church massacres back in that time. Dad's took their boys hunting and fishing and kids roamed the neighborhood's until sundown and *gasp* none of them were being tracked by GPS on their cell phones by nervous parents. There was a time when a boy was a boy and a girl was a girl and that was it. There was a time when ADD/ADHD wasn't even thought of.
There was a time when kids worked at the local burger joint or grocery store or family farm at age 12, and they learned valuable life skills. There was a time when we taught actual true history and didn't conceive of safe spaces to protect the fragile among us. There was a time when we told our little darlings that if another kids bullies you, you kick him in the nuts(girls), or punch him on the nose(boys). There was a time where we taught kids to respect the flag, the country, the police, the firemen, and adults in authority positions (like teachers) or they were gonna get a butt whoopin' when the got home. There was a time when we would have gasped in horror at the thought of murdering babies in the womb. There was a time where our culture understood the prize of freedom and recoiled at the thought of any socialist revolution. And we didn't have mass shootings back in these glory days.
It might sound like I am talking about The little old town of Mayberry, but I'll take that in a heartbeat. It is a damn finer place than we live now. Until then, my Sig Sauer rides on my hip, my three gun safes(one for my long guns, 2 small personal ones each. One for me and one for my wife's carry guns) are quiet and content. My kids go skeet shooting and target shooting with me, and they know how to strip, clean, assemble and use all my guns. My teenage boys (rightfully so I think) complain about getting busted at school with their pocket knives and being informed not to bring them ever again. Lucky for them I do security there on a volunteer staff program(yes it's legal and yes I am approved to do so armed). We have a network of parents that provide this service and some of the teachers and administrative staff are armed carrying concealed as well.
My Rx for this nation? Get the liberals heads out of their friggin asses for one. For second, the silent and serene majority of us start speaking up ridiculing the liberal diseased voices that are wrecking our schools and universities. Start running for political offices, start showing up at city council and school board meetings and town halls and ridiculing and mocking the liberal minority for their damned nitwit ideas and world view. Stop voting for these damned fools as well. Not that "Republican's" are better, because I think a lot of us are fed up with them as well. We have to demolish the party-loyalty mentality and teach society to be Americans first. We have to teach constitutional value and freedom values. We have to return to independence, as opposed to dependence on a government sponsored goodie. Parents, stop paying for your son or daughter to get a liberal arts degree or a degree in dance. And stop giving your little ones so much stuff. No, an eight year does not need an iPhone or tablet. Let's destroy all the electronic devices they are constantly face down on, and hand them a bike or football and make them go play. Cut the cable or satellite and throw out the video games. Dads, teach your boys and girls to check the oil and change a flat tire. Moms, teach your boys and girls to cook and clean. Mentor your kid's. The Internet is not their parent. You are!
Sincerely, Mark Snyder
