In the United States, we greet people with, "Hello," or "Good morning," and sometimes "How are you doing?"
In China, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and Philippines, the customary greeting is, "Have you eaten yet?"

Was just there.

Kumain ka na ba?

Or in redneck its "d'jaeat?'

I’m guessing it’s a hospitality thing?

Visit The South

"Smooth as the hickory wind
That blows from Memphis down to Apalachicola
It's, "Hi y'all, did ya eat well?

Come on in, I'm sure glad to know ya"

they say that in South Korea and Japan too. :)

Although not Asian, it is considered required good manners to say, "Thank you for the food" after a meal at someone's house in Sweden. For some reason it is a shocking custom for foreigners.
