Stellantis to temporarily lay off 900 US workers as tariffs hit

The company announced Thursday it is temporarily laying off 900 workers at five U.S. plants and halting production at one each in Mexico and Canada.

Denny Butler is Vice President of the United Auto Workers Local 685, representing Stellantis workers in Indiana.

"We've got a group of 470-some people out there that are starting to worry. They don't know if they need to go find another job or not. That's the frustrating part because it's our job to be able to help and reach out and guide those people and give them an honest opinion on what they need to do and we can't. That's frustrating part."

Trump broadened tariffs to a 10% baseline on all U.S. imports, with higher rates for countries with the highest U.S. trade deficits.

This followed last week’s announcement of 25% duties on all auto imports, which shocked the global auto industry.

In a letter sent to employees on Thursday morning, Stellantis' Americas chief said the company is quote 'continuing to assess the medium- and long-term effects of these tariffs' but had 'decided to take some immediate actions.'

On Thursday, Stellantis shares dropped 9.3% in New York.

Shares of Ford, General Motors, and Tesla also fell sharply after the tariff announcements.

MAGA winning.

Why are they laying off employees in US plants? Tariffs don't apply.

Cripes you're stupid

/—-/ Fact, or you can post otherwise.
Chrysler has a reliability rating of 3.5 out of 5.0, ranking it 11th out of 32 car brands. The average annual repair cost for Chrysler vehicles is $608, which is slightly above average compared to other brands, indicating that while they may have some reliability issues, they are generally manageable with proper maintenance

Why do the biggest supporters of this idiotic policy seem to be old people with nothing at risk?
Might have something to do with life experience, intelligence, and the ability to make money.

Guess that leaves you the fuck out of the game, eh?

Are you in the game or are you too old to be playing?

Stellantis in America dug a hole for themselves before Trump came along with their poor reliability and inability to unload their inventory of overpriced Rams and Jeeps causing executive heads to roll.
