Reading now it's doubtful they'd can him now with the NFL draft coming to town.

OK full disclosure, the only reason I bring this up is Metcalf is on my fantasy football team so I pay attention to Steelers games. Last night was ridiculous. Steelers could do nothing on offense and Metcalf had 3 catches for a measly 35 yards. They keep trying to hit him on long bombs when he's double covered. The guy is huge! All they have to do is hit him on short comeback routes or quick slants. Do that a few times and THEN break him long. They paid $150 million for him and he's basically a hood ornament for the Steelers.

He was respected in Seattle, but there must have been a reason that they got rid of him---maybe salary cap? He was always positively mentioned in the game reports when he was with the hawks.

I didn't look it up. The taller the better. This last week's seems like hundreds balks right into Defenive blocks or own team helmets. College and pro.

They weren't exactly hot even WITH Big Ben. For the most part, Ben threw 5 yards over people's heads or threw 5 yards short. The rest of the time, he was literally running for his life because he could never find anyone open to catch the pass.

Last time the Steelers went to a Super Bowl, I forget the year, it was right towards the end of Troy Polamalu's career, I remember seeing the Steelers on camera along the sidelines and there was just no passion, no fight, no heart in the Steelers. They looked dejected, as if they knew they would lose and played like they were already beaten.

The Steelers have not played well since, other than for momentary bursts of promise. So far into this season, I can't say there has been a single game the Steelers have played that I thought they looked prepared and with a killer instinct that I was cheering at the TV for their mastery of the game. If they lose again this Sunday to the Bengals, they are finished for the year.

If Mike Tomlin cannot master the game at this point in his career being the oldest coach in the NFL, he never will. I've been praying for Tomlin to be replaced for at least six years now. I don't think the Rooney family that owns the team has the first idea how to manage the team.

Even if you assume all this is true why are rbs fans of the team at fault and thus “getting what they deserve”?

Canada, wasn't he the offense coach they hired with no experience in the NFL who Tomlin then fired and blamed for all their failures? Which after replacing him, the team still did all the same plays and suffered all the same problems since anyway.

Over the past decade, I don't know how many players I've seen get traded because they were unhappy in Pittsburgh or storm off the field and get fired, only to go to some other team and play great, set records and win championships.

• Remember Martavius Bryant? He played for the Steelers, didn't do so well, got traded to another team and did great.
• Then there was LaGarrett Blount. A running back who stormed off the field because Tomlin never gave him any playing time. He went to another team and got a Super Bowl ring. They kept Le'veon Bell instead who then went on strike and failed to show up for play the whole season.
• Then there was RB Connor who I thought was even better. Steelers traded him away for a 1st string guy and Connor did great elsewhere. The guy they traded for they have since let go as a dud.
• Antonio Brown, one of the best WRs to play the game but the guy was a spazoid. Tomlin could not control him or keep him happy so he went to the Bucs, played with Brady and, you guessed it, won a Super Bowl.
• Now we have George Pickens. When the Steelers got him 3 years ago, he was their superman. But in short order once again, Tomlin could not control the guy and coach him so they gave him up instead. Now the guy is killing it for the Cowboys and the Steelers got a 3rd and 5th round pick instead.

They are asking for it like Pirate fans are. Nutting owns the Pirates and despite stinking to high heaven, fans still make the team profitable for him, so why should he spend more.

Much the same with the Steelers. As bad as they are year after year after year with no end in sight never fixing a damned thing, the place sells out. Literally. So why should the Rooneys care? As bad as they are, the stadium sells out, the concessions sell like hot cakes, and I hear there are Steelers bars in every city around the world cheering, and the NFL merchandise sells off the shelves.
