The orchestra geared up to play its finale, Beethoven's Ninth. da-da-da-daaaaah....
Soon as that signature part was over one of the double basses nudged the guy next to him and said, "come on, let's go to the bar".
"What? we're still playing, we can't leave."
"Come on, we don't have to play again until the end. We got time".
So off they go, one drink... then another... then another... around the fourth drink the more responsible musician pleads, "Hey, we should really get back so we don't miss the end".
"Relax" the first one says, "I took a string and tied down the conductor's pages, so he can't turn the last page. He'll have to wait for us".
So here's the situation:
It's the bottom of the Ninth, two out with the score tied and the basses loaded ....
