Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

“Wretched Refuse”

The poet is referring to immigrants as garbage or trash.

Clearly very fucking racist.

The New Colossus is also taken out of context by the communist open-borders people.

They have no idea what the significance is to make reference to the Colossus of Rhodes.

Look at the broken chains on the Lady Liberty's feet. That's significant and is in reference to the chains from the old world being broken here.

But, like always, the open-borders people will still try to cite The New Colossus out of context and make reference to it as if it were law.

How does "immigrants" suddenly get translated into race ? My mother's white family immigrated here from Denmark. My Hispanic paternal grandparents immigrated here from Central America.

All of them arrived in New York City by boat, sailing right past the Statue of Liberty.

They are garbage, according to the poem.

I could just as well get rid of the whole statue, entirely. It goes back to a 19th century period when the country was still young, and needed people to build it up.

Now, the country is much more mature, very overpopulated, and sadly, overpopulated by the wrong people, from the 3rd world, bringing ignorance, indigence, and foreign cultures.

1000 examples of cultural clash, could be noted, but the one that sticks in my mind the most is Mexicans blasting fireworks here on Christmas Eve - the night Americans have always kept as peace & quiet, and revered as "Silent Night"
3rd worlders don't ask how we do things. They just continue to do as they did in their home country, bringing that often undesirable culture here.

Yeah. Back then white people were racist against other white peoples.

good call .....
Definition of refuse (Entry 2 of 3)

1: the worthless or useless part of something : LEAVINGS
2 TRASH, GARBAGE
so Trump was always right

If we are going to take this poem as legislation, we can’t pick and choose lines.

The poem refers to the incoming immigrants as GARBAGE OR TRASH.

WORDS HAVE CONSEQUENCES.

RACIST TO REFER TO IMMIGRANTS AS TRASH OR GARBAGE!

Poem should be removed! Racist!

And that's the point of The New Colossus.

Give us your shittiest people, your refuse, and HERE THEY WILL SUCCEED, because HERE we have Liberty, and in the old world, the place of the old Colossus (Colossus of Rhodes) they have tyranny and oppression, which creates refuse.

THAT IS THE REAL MEANING.

.

The racist poem must be removed!

Emma Lazarus was a racist!

She said immigrants are trash! People are not trash! We can’t throw them away!

“Hey hey ho ho, that racist poem has got to go!”

If Trump referred to immigrants as REFUSE, what would the response be by Dimms and the corporate media?

Odd how standards change based on who stands to benefit.

Refuse = Garbage

The poem at the Statue of Liberty is referring to immigrants as trash.

It must come down! It’s racist!

Sure, racist against the Irish. The poem refers to all immigrants as trash.

Caucasians can be discriminated against.

Potato eating Micks. Those are racial slurs.

Just like Fredo

Irish is not a race, dumbshit. White is. Like white Italians. Is that who you're saying it's racist against?

Fredo said it’s like the N-word.

Are you sure all your woke pals are aware of what you are saying?

One can’t be racist against Mexicans, for example? Good to know.

Fredo is a fictional character. So what about white Jews? It's racist against them too?

All immigrants. The poem is xenophobic and racist.

Fredo isn’t fictional. Fredo is Chris Cuomo.

The actor that played Fredo died of cancer. So sad. He was also in Dog Day Afternoon as Sal.
