The State Department’s procurement forecast, revised as of late December 2024, lists Tesla as the recipient of the largest expected contract, with Marco Rubio’s department planning to buy $400,000,000 worth of “Armored Tesla.”

The award is targeted for Q4, and is forecast to last for five years.

The procurement forecast is listed as having been modified on December 13, 2024, a month after Donald Trump’s election. The State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Under the heading, "extent competed," the document reads merely "TBD."

The new Tesla truck is amazing but so far out of my price range it's sad!!! It'll be interesting to see how they use it. Remember when you had to pluck your phone into a charger; now I just place it on a charge thingy and it is held there magnetically. The biggest prob is charging imo. I would love a detachable charger unit that would act as a reserve tank that you can detach and charge ...and then magnetically attach somewhere. Like a battery starter unit. I'm sure they're either out there already or in the pipeline.

But as with a lot of things the technology is amazing but not necessarily BETTER than what is about already.

I'm not sure they've been anti electric car, I know i haven't been. We've just been pro oil. I've said that the mandates to go full electric by..2030 or whatever, will never work. The range isn't there, the charging infrastructure isn't there, and we simply don't produce enough electricity to handle a country full of ev's.


If they get to where they can fix all of that, I'd drive one..


However, this anti Elon musk thing and the desire to see tesla fail, will put the lefts ev mandate back a decade or more, should their anti musk crusade be successful.
