Star Trek : Star Fleet Academy premiered on Paramount + this week. There was another thread discussing various aspects back in September, but now we can see the finished product. They showed two episodes in the debut.

I am looking for other Trekkie opinions on it. I quickly realized it is in the post Voyager timeline because of the EMH (doctor) character there but also post Discovery's timeline and jump forward in time because Jett Reno is an instructor there. My lack of knowledge of some of Discovery may have been relevant because I quite Discovery after the season where they leaped into the future.

Personally, I was not impressed by any of the new characters. To me the Captain/Chancellor's character being played by a well-known actress, Holly Hunter, left me a little flat. She does not have the gravitas required to pull off the role. She wears glasses, reads old-fashioned books, puts her feet up in the captain's chair, and walks around barefoot, despite being 422 years old. She comes across as a rebirth of a 1970s hippie chick!

The other characters were not particularly impressive either. The characters come off as a woke version of the UN-type of diversity of the with blacks, whites, Asians, aliens and later including a Russian crewmember. There are aliens, including the captain, a hybrid alien female number one, and multiple combinations of alien students many hybrids of two species. There are obviously gay characters as well as fat, ugly, Klingons, and a particularly hot Betazoid in the show. There is even another character that is a species that appears as a hologram that is only weeks into its existence but appears as a young adult. The villain is an alien with a history with captain and one of the cadets Caleb Mir. What I found odd is that none of the bridge crew which made up most of the other series, are left as an afterthought in these two episodes as the cadet's do all the heavy lifting.

The ship also serves as the building for Star Fleet Academy's headquarters by landing in San Francisco. The ship was not impressive as the warp nacelles are detachable and the ship's interior reminds me very much of the cruise ship I was on in November in the Caribbean. They have announcements like a high school and they even have coffee bars it appears.

I would be interested in hearing others' opinions on the series. I am going to continue watching it to see if I can find any appeal. You may feel free to check my facts and opinions at will.

The mags and rags are praising it.

Fans are flushing it.

I have not read ANY good reviews from fans for this show. One comment said it was supposed to be a comedy. So I thought it was going to be like a real life Below Decks. But apparently it's not.

Most of the fan comments are basically "blah".

I love Star Trek.......or did. I do not care at all for the direction they've been going in the past few years.
I'm completely sick of all this prequel shit.

I know this one is supposed to be the New Federation after some kind of war.........but from what little I've seen of it, I don't care for it at all.
I'm not going to waste my time on it.

Star Trek, The Next Generation was a decent series.
The Star Trek movies with Chris Pine were also good.
So too were "some" of the older Star Trek movies with William Shatner.
I've been watching Star Trek, Strange New Worlds. I'm not particularly impressed. The two Gorn Episodes were good. Other than them, it seems like we generally finding the captain (Anson Mount) cooking in a kitchen, rather than actually being a captain and when faced with any dangerous situation, his character can't seem to make a decision without asking everyone what they think should be done.
Time for a right-wing film production studio to purchase the Star Trek rights and make good butt-kicking movies.

1. Just like Captain/Admiral Kirk!

2. Didn't the very first Star Trek show have diversity also?

3. The Enterprise-D was basically a 1980s living room/family room in space!

Good news for leftarded women .All the white men are dead.We do not exist in the future ... There was one at helm control the sole survivor??I take it.. plus a few extras walking around

It has bombed as another woke left wing Hollywood propaganda. They killed the Marvel and Star Wars franchise now Star Trek

/----/ It wasn't too bad. Sci Fi is tough, especially when you're competing with the Star Trek legacy.
Remember they almost canceled the original series until Lucille Ball stepped in to save the show. I recall Spock was almost like a robot in the first few episodes until he grew into the character. A few others like McCoy and Uhura, were only supposed to be minor characters.

Give the show some time to work the kinks out.

Its already bombed with fat women DEI and all sorts of woke BS written into the script.

/----/ Rodenberry promoted the original series as Wagon Train in Space. It worked.

/----/ I didn't see much DEI. I refuse to watch some series because of the woke crap, gay sex, and other crap the left pushes. I didn't see it in the premiere episode. The Captain was a bit quirky.

I gave up on Star Trek when they started doing animation and a musical episode.
Trekkie influence has ruined the franchise years ago.

Animation is fine, as long as it is animation being animation.

New Worlds having crossovers and a musical pissed me off a great deal.
I DESPISE musical numbers in non-musical shows/movies. Even in STNG, I'd turn it off or click on something else.
I don't mind something like an orchestra playing, or a saxaphone solo......but singing and dancing......JUST SAY NO!!!!

In honor of the new disaster show "Star Fleet Academy," I would like to point out, that since the Ferengi society is based on profit, they would have the best and most advanced ships in the Star Trek universe.

Klingons wouldn't have the best because they do not like commerce and waste all of their resources on fighting and killing each other and other aliens. The Federation, as a collective society, would have some of the worst, least advanced ships in space.

the ferengi were not a very industrious race when it came to engineering and science...if there was no profit they would not pursue it....and the Klingons stole or got many of their ideas from the Romulans....including the cloaking device....

I've seen the first two episodes. Didn't hate it as much as I thought I would. I'll keep watching for now.
