Sorta Neat.....Stembridge Gun Rentals Holster

I was looking for a vintage field holster for a 5" S&W M&P in .32-20 and came across a Red Head brand one on eBay and bought it.

It came from Stembridge Gun Rentals a prop gun provider to the US movie and television industry from approximately 1920 through 2007. During its tenure, nearly every American movie or television set was supplied by Stembridge for their firearms and blanks.

I thought this was pretty cool.

When the 1992 biopic Chaplin was being filmed, producers asked Stembridge if they could supply a rifle similar to the one Charlie Chaplin had used in the 1918 movie Shoulder Arms. Stembridge had it on hand and was able to supply the actual gun Chaplin had used.

That is very cool. There used to be a prop rental company in Houston, back when it looked like Houston might be set to join LA, NY and Chi as production locations. They had all kinds of prop guns, inert and harmless unless used a club, or capable of blanks only. I don't know when and why the movie industry switched to using real guns, but it was a mistake.

Makes me wonder what movie my holster was used in. I wonder if their database is still around?
