I was 31 when this song came out...and that is pretty damn young.
My wife and I was driving on a great stretch of road in southern Indiana (446).
It was a perfect night...weather was perfect...we were riding in my 1996 GT Mustang with the sun roof open and the windows down...then this song came on. I don't know why - but it just made us feel great. Everytime I hear this song it lifts my mood.
I'll be 63 on 7/30. This then becomes my anthem.[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDt26gJYVB4&feature=related]When I'm Sixty Four original (In the key of C major) - YouTube[/ame]
True story...this song came on my radio when I was driving back late at night from a girlfriends house...and we had just broke up.
I don't think there has ever been a song that came on the radio with such poignant timing as this one did.
So this song will forever make me think of that pretty little strawberry blond girl 31 years ago.
I looked her up once on facebook...she is married, has two kids just like me. She is a nurse.
Funny how all of those old high school flames still haunt you for the rest of your life.
