AI is going to replace massive amounts of jobs (up to 50% of white collar), but we are experiencing a shortage of blue collar trade workers - you know - the guys who keep the economy going.

The first thing that MUST happen is to stop having so many people attend college at such a high cost. There is going to be a movement of money from high priced universities to lower priced technical schools, and the gravy train of government guaranteed loans for everyone, is just about over..... like it or not!

In short: we have way too many lawyers and not enough people who really contribute to the economy.

Well the higher costs in schools is depending on where you go to school at. Still there are alternatives and the nice paying job if you can get it.

I do not see Ivy league schools going out of business. Yes they do need to cut down the price but sometimes it is impressive to name that school you went to.

Still there are alternatives to ivy league schools.
Which does include technical schools or lesser known colleges. Even just getting a two year degree and then get that job. Or joing going to a cheaper school. It does not mean the education will be less but it will cost less.

Then you can continue on with your education and have a job.

Technical schools are useful and can work as they are more specific in targeting what the student is intrested in.

The workfore is competative and the more on your plate may get you that job when there are multiple applicants.

Ford CEOs have come been politicians for the democrat party. The democrats embed activist operatives everywhere. Many Obama administration politicians went to "manage" at Ford.

My daughter just graduated from a two year community college, got a job offer within 3 weeks of graduation, and is starting out at more than $50k.....and her education cost about 1/4 of what it would have cost to send her to a "regular" four year school. More than ever, middle class people need to be smart with where they put their money, and kids need to really think about what they want to major in.

yeah sounds like she is on her way. Next is the husband part. I bet you can't wait for that shoe to fall.

Holding off on the husband part is prudent. Most marriages end in divorce. Wait until financially independent then consider marriage.

Movement away from Big Education is a great thing. Let those entitled “tenured” professors and administrators get off their asses and go get a job where they are accountable daily for their performance like the rest of us.

UnEducated? You think people who attend trade schools and community colleges are uneducated? These people are acquiring marketable skills sets while the supposed “smart ones” are spending $250k and major in a bullshit concentration for which there is no market.

You have to excuse Methusaleh. He's like 90 with the brain of a 110-year-old. He makes Biden look like he has some sense.

Womens Studies majors are graduating $250k in debt and no jobs. Steamfitters, pipefitters, plumbers, nurses, IT support personnel are all starting $60k-$100k….. well above the women’s studies majors.

Job replacement is the least of our worries, from AI.

I’ve been studying women my whole life and I make hundreds of dollars a year.

AI requires more college degrees, not less.
To run a milling machine or lath now you need to program it.
Nurses aids now need to be able to access databases and spreadsheets.
AI does not talk to you, but produces files of data you have to learn how to access, decode, search for, etc.

There is almost no way to get a job any more without a college degree.
While it is true tech colleges could be more specific, to be able to do that, 18 year olds would have to be able to pick exactly what job they wanted for the rest of their lives.
And that is never going to happen.
Regular colleges are more general and therefore gives a wider range of skills.

Most kids do not know at all what they want to major in, so a regular college works best, since then they are deliberately exposed to a wide range of areas.

Tenure is earned continually.
There is an annual review.
It just means a single individual cannot fire you over a disagreement.

Professors have to do things like publish research in order to retain their tenure.

One would think they then would just want more immigrants then?
I don't get why there is such a big push against immigrants?
