Something Very Cool Happened to Me Today

I came into my home about 3p.m. today, to find my older son on the phone with my younger son-away at school. The older said, "Want to talk to Derek?" I said, "As soon as I put away the groceries." They spoke while I did the fridge and cabinets.

Took the phone, "How's school?"

"Fine" was the reply.

Then, "I was on retreat this weekend, for RA program. Left yesterday morning, returned about noon. It was very cool."

Me, "So what did you learn?"

Him, "Too much to remember."

Me, "What was the most important thing you learned about yourself? Insight?"

Him, "What is really important to me, I shouldn't throw away things important to me or not pay attention to."

Me, "So what is most important to you?"

Him, "You made the cut."

Me, "Awesome, who or what else?"

Him, "Nikki, (his girlfriend), made the top 4."

Me, "That's good, what else?"

Him, "Well, ah..."

Me, "Besides me and Nikki, who or what else? What's important to you?"

Him, "Love and trust."

Me, "So you can love and trust me and Nikki?"

Him, "Well you came out #1. Nikki came behind love and trust. We had to nail down 2 significant people and our most important touchstones to base these on. Nikki followed the touchstones..."

I think my days are numbered...But I'll relish this while I can.

I did ask, 'what about career?'

His response, 'it was about now, not the future...'

Enough said.

"Leave it to Beaver" was cool..."Wally" went on to be a LAPD officer! Then went back to being Just "Wally" later in life...LOL
