Social Security comments from a Senator

I cant blame them either, but it doesnt mean we should allow it

People retiring at 55 or 65 and then collecting SS for 20 or 25 years will bankrupt the system
Im not calling for 55 year olds to collect SS. But why take the 62 age away?

Do you know a good source to go to for advice on this? My son is retired at 55, but has been kicking around when to start drawing. Is there much of an advantage to wait until 65? Some say wait unyil 70. But that seems more risky.
I attended a seminar on Social Security before I retired. It was very worthwhile perhaps there are some available in your son's area.

Because its too low to keep the system financially healthy

We have to raise the age in order to keep the system out of the red

So if i might ask what was your deciding factor to collect at 62? Age? Needs? Its an interesting decision.

For Social Security to function properly, it requires a growing workforce paying into the system. As women in western societies have fewer and fewer children, this requires more and more immigration from third world countries. In turn, those who come here bring many ingrained attitudes that are not exactly conducive to the very western liberal values responsible for the establishment of these safety nets in the first place.

Civilizations are cyclical in nature, and the seeds for our own collapse have already been sown.

I'm healthy but my Dad died at 69. Also I paid in the maximum for many many years so I wanted to make sure I at least got a good return on my contributions before the Feds start diddling with the Social Security program. It officially goes insolvent in 2035.

Makes sense so good on you for making the right decision. Thanks for sharing and stay healthy. Lots of sickness out there now.

Many people work jobs that dont allow them to save much. Social security is all they have. Pull that away and man itd be pure chaos.
It’s a Ponzi scheme it’s already gone!

I've been calling SS a Ponzi scheme for years.

Indeed, created by FDR another Democrat in a different era during the Depression of the 1930's.
A DNC pushed system through Congress in 1934 and passed in 1935.

Its not a pinzi scheme. Its been serving untold millions of american citizens. Its been highly successful.
“I have not died, therefore I must be immortal!” Is also the same fallacy.

"The system operates on a pay-as-you-go basis, meaning current workers’ taxes pay for current beneficiaries’ benefits."

Ponzi scheme

Ponzi schemes (plural noun)
  1. a form of fraud in which belief in the success of a non-existent enterprise is fostered by the payment of quick returns to the first investors from money invested by later investors:

That's like saying you are already dead because you will eventually die. Problem is... you're still alive. So that would be as idiotic as saying social security is already gone when in fact, it's not.

I'm starting to see why you think people who have been successful are thieves, you don't understand how logic works.

“I have not died, therefore I must be immortal!” Is also the same fallacy.
Actually, it's not. The correct analogy for YOUR flawed logic would be;

you will die someday so you must already be dead.

Now do you understand?

So until the plane hits the water, it’s not officially crashing. My god your generation is one of utter tetards.

Where did I say that? I never did.

Correct. It's a long way off from hitting the water. An what you call hitting the water is really a reduction in benefits. Google is your friend.

When you accused me of stealing. See?

Your taking stolen goods and supports the system that does so with your support/votes, that is called enabling.

It HAS BEEN serving American Citizens because even though the thieves in Congress have raided the fund, there have been enough workers to cover what has been owed.

That is about to change.

It's a Ponzi Scheme. Old investors are being paid off by new investors (taxpayers).

Ponzi Schemes can go on a long time, however.

People who have paid in their whole wasted working lives should get the benefit. Pay in for 40 years then get the benefit. One should get something for wasting away working their most productive years, no? Its a sacrifice for nothing.

of course they should. But there's no free lunch!

Congress should have left that money alone.
