I don't think you appreciate the power of a dedicated, passionate minority. If just 20% of the country decides they've had enough, they can pretty much grind things to a halt. That's why consensus is so important. Democracy puts so much emphasis on a simple majority - or worse, a plurality - that it promotes bad government. Laws need more than majority support to persist. Then need widespread acceptance, if not support to function properly. If a significant minority has a vehement objection to a given policy, the policy will almost always do more harm than good.

That's MAGA. A passionate minority ready to do anything to push back against Democrats, or destroy the country in the attempt.
