You're coming at this knowing the end of the story for one player and not the other. You are correct Brady did what most QB's don't do play exceptionally and win SB's post the prime of their career. He also did what QB's don't do and not win SB's in the prime of their career. If you look at both of their careers at the same point through year 7 who are you taking? Who projects as the better player?

Through 7 years starting (both sat their first year)

Mahomes made the PO's all 7 times. Made the Conference Champ game all 7 times. Made the SB 5 times winning 3.

Brady went 9-7 and missed the PO's his second year. Made 5 Conference champ games and 4 SB's winning 3.

Brady in the PO's 26 TD's 12 Int's 14-3.
Mahomes in the PO's 46 TD's 10 Ints 19-4.

Brady 2 SB MVP's 1 league MVP
Mahomes 3 SB MVP's 2 league MVPs

You want to penalize Mahomes because he was more successful. Brady didn't play well enough one year to even make the post season, Mahomes hasn't lost before the conference championship game in his career.

BTW Brady lost to the Ravens in the WC round 33-14 in 2009 throwing 3 picks and a fumble.

Until later in his career Brady was NOT the driving force behind NE winning SB's. It wasn't his job to win the games it was his job to not lose them and let the defense win them. That's not a recipe for huge flops. Mahomes has never been in that situation.

I'll keep saying this failing to play well earlier and losing doesn't make you better.

If I went into a coma for the next 15 years, and when I woke up if you told me that Mahomes never won another SB I'd be surprised but I'd definitely believe it. If you told me he won 5 more I'd be surprised but I'd believe that too.

The only reason who was the GOAT was even on the table this year was because the Chiefs had an opportunity to do something no other team had done win 3 in a row, them not doing that doesnt end the GOAT discussion. Mahomes isnt 37 he's 29.

So comparing the beginnings of their career, looks like Mahomes is on track to beat him.
