So how many of you get mail on Saturday? If not what about stopping USPS delivery on Saturdays?

According to recent USPS data, the Postal Service spends approximately $5.8 million per day on salaries and benefits for mail delivery, which represents the average daily cost associated with delivering mail.

Stop delivery on Saturdays would save over $300 million. Why not? I don't need it on Saturday!

Louis DeJoy.
He's trump's Guy.
Right.

I get packages on Sunday from the post office. Let's start there.

If I get anything on Saturday it's just usually junk mail which promptly goes in recycling.
Sometimes see the Postal truck on Sunday delivering just packages.

I receive parts on Saturday for customers who need their equipment on Saturday.

I do and it's always junk mail so basically a waste of our money in a sense

I get packages all through the week, Saturday included.....As far as I am concerned, they could have regular Sunday delivery too.....Given the cost of shipping these days I expect whatever widget I order not to be held up by the USPS.

I don't know, maybe quit giving sweetheart deals to Fed-Ex and UPS. Hell, I even get "special rates" as an eBay seller.

we get it on sundays from time to time,, I am in the city,,

I would rather a private company got my money than a government one that skims a cut off the top for useless employees,,

They stopped Saturday mail decades ago.

All they delivered on Saturdays was over night parcels and large packages.

Then stuff backed up. So they started doing every other Saturday for those who wanted overtime.

Stuff still backed up.

They ended up paying more in weekly overtime, than just rotating the schedules to include Saturdays.

So now, more often than not, it's just the metro areas that have Saturday mail.

The End.

USPS by far the most reliable. Fed ex is so do comparably.
Thats not been my experience.

FedEx has only dropped the ball once in the past 30-40 years I've been using them.

The USPS has "lost" over 15 packages, over hundreds of letters/cards, and several bills (before online pay was invented).

I get packages from every other delivery service on Saturday too. They aren’t losing money doing it. How about we just eliminate the USPS and let people that are better at it take over. That would save 5.8 billion every day of the week.

I would restrict them to under 5 or 10 lbs and 5 day delivery,,

letter mail is their primary requirement,, other than spring time chicken deliverys,,

I think the market has already limited them to that since UPS FedEx etc can’t do letter delivery and they still can’t break even. If the USPS wasn’t government funded they would have folded 20 years ago.

nd dont even get me started on maintenance for vehicles the gov employees treat like shit,,

a private company wouldnt allow it,,

Whether Saturday delivery is stopped or some other day(s), anyone who would expect to see cost savings is delusional. That is not the way government works.
